Vitality beat Liquid to move on in BLAST Premier Global Final upper bracket

The French team are just one victory away from the grand final after putting up another strong performance.

Vitality have set up a clash with Astralis in the upper bracket final of the BLAST Premier Global Final following a 2-0 victory over Liquid. An imperious display from Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut helped the French team to pick up a hard-fought victory on Nuke before they headed to their map pick of Vertigo, where veterans Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon and Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy took over. Vitality took the lead from the outset and denied their opponents any chance of a comeback with a series of clutch situations throughout the game.

The French team got off to a lively start, cruising to a 5-0 lead on the CT side of Nuke, where Nabil "⁠Nivera⁠" Benrlitom was once again given the nod to play. Liquid picked up the pace after that, however, and dominated proceedings for the rest of the half for a 9-6 score, with Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic leading the charge with 15 frags to his name and a 119 ADR.

Vitality will take on Astralis on Saturday for a spot in the final

Vitality came out of the break a revitalised side, winning eight of the initial nine rounds to get on the brink of victory. Liquid remained calm and collected - despite losing a painful 2v1 situation to a 1 HP ZywOo -, and took the game the full distance, only to falter at the final hurdle as the Frenchmen turned a 3v4 situation around.

ZywOo opened up the action on Vertigo with a quad-kill in the pistol round to help Vitality into an early lead. The French team controlled the early stages of the game - keeping Liquid from stringing rounds together - and raced to a 6-2 lead before the North Americans put their foot down. Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip's charges put some rounds together to equalise the score, but then Vitality responded with three in a row to gain some momentum before the break.

Now playing on the T side, Liquid took the pistol round convincingly, but there was no follow-up as shox and RpK overcame a 2v5 situation. The French team kept a very tight defense and quickly hit match point, weathering a very late comeback attempt from the North Americans to wrap up the series.

i think fallen should make a team from the scratch, call another BR superstar like coldzera and bring two solid riflers (getting fer and fnx out of retirement would be POG). Also they should get a bad player to be bait for cold (like TACO for example) since a team with 5 superstars never work (faze) I think this lineup is decent and have a good shot at winning majors

he carried Nuke and it was much more close than Vertigo^^ Shox did great on the B site of vertigo but on nuke Shox did the same performance ZywOo did on vertigo which is 1.09 rating. ZywOo got a 4k 1hp ace clutch btw on Nuke ^^

You didn't explain how he carried Vertigo with his 13 kills. Zywoo is a beast, yes, but when your teamates have 22,22,23 kills and you have 27.. it's not a carry... it's a team effort. Zywootality doesn't exist anymore since Alex left a year ago, it's time to accept they're playing as a team.

Of course, I think I know Vitality way better than you do tbh. I didn't say he carried Vertigo though ? They have exactly the same rating in the other map of the big perf map. Shox has 1.09 on Nuke and ZywOo has 1.09 on vertigo but the game was much closer on Nuke 16-14 ^^. Don't put words I didn't say in my mouth, that's rubbish.

Zywoo is often the top fragger and has a really good impact, but you're just a hater if you don't want to accept that Vitality is a good team. I didn't link matches where Misutaaa or Nivera was on the top, because they don't play every map.

Vitality is a very good team, it's crazy what you can do with 4 decent / mediocre players and a god who just really work really good together.Same as Astralis in the beginning.But you can never, but never say something about zywoo hard carry.Everyone can see that Vitality is amazing, but if you get zywoo out of the team they will struggle to be a top 10 team.Anyway it doesn't matter, it s their luck they got zywoo, that's how this game works.But zywoo is the most important piece in this team, this is just a fact.

Elige and naf didn't show up in this series, if they did, I'm confident we would've seen a different outcome (2-1 in favor of vitality still, but ever so closely contested ) I don't believe this is a honeymoon period either, as their team play has definitely improved since losing nitro.. I have high hopes for liquid in the future, good luck to them!! GG vitality zywoo definitely showing why he's number 1 of 2020!

Moses said Stewie was the IGL on paper, but everyone could call on specific moments if they want to, that only leads to disaster. If you just wanted to bring an awper there was better options (though FalleN is doing pretty well), just make FalleN IGL or bring one, although TL is doing fine I don't think they will success in long term.
