Owen "⁠oBo⁠" Schlatter's time with Complexity has come to an end after a one-and-a-half year long tenure as a player of the North American organization. He entered the active lineup as a 15-year old in 2019 and reached a peak team ranking of #5 after winning the BLAST Premier Spring 2020 Europe Finals.

The teenager stepped down from the team in September of 2020, describing it as "the hardest decision I have ever made", and return back home from the team's extended stay in Europe.

oBo is exploring his options after parting ways with Complexity

After oBo's departure, Complexity have had issues assembling their full roster, fielding Niels Christian "⁠NaToSaphiX⁠" Sillassen, Jamie "⁠keita⁠" Hall, Otto "⁠ottoNd⁠" Sihvo, and Jakob "⁠JUGi⁠" Hansen as stand-ins. Additionally, oBo's replacement and star-signing Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage has struggled to get going, averaging a 0.96 rating since joining.

"I am always more than willing to bootcamp and be in Europe for extended periods of time,", oBo said at the end of the year, hinting at the possibility of going on another long European trip. The youngster averaged a 1.11 rating across 2020, which will make him an appealing prospect for teams looking to build a new roster or refresh their current one.

Well the thing is he did stay in Europe for an extended period of time. My only issue is the way he left not that he left. But I'm also willing to forgive a 16 year old's panic especially when Mom is probably on the other end of the line. May seem baby-ish to you but remember yourself at that age.

Yeah I can see that side of it, it just seems weird considering Jason lake is a really nice guy and i'm sure if Obo said hes really struggling and asked to leave mid event im 100% sure jason wouldn't have denied him. The guy legit goes in the fancam of all his teams games to support them, I feel if I had a boss who did that I wouldn't want to leave them hahahaha.

Felt bad for Jason too but in his statement he mentioned Obo talking about it over the player break. I'm sure it was a surprise but it couldn't have been like that huge a surprise. If you know what I mean.

Bro he was in Europe for six months. That's an extended period of time. His issue was staying indefinitely. As I said above the only thing questionable was the way he did it. But this idea that he lacks the capacity to stay in Europe for months at a time doesn't reflect reality. Complexity as an org should share some blame here. They had an extremely young kid and they did nothing despite him complaining for months he wanted to go home. Had they sent him back for even two weeks things may have played out differently.

Straight from Jason Lake. "Over the player break, oBo expressed reservations about returning to Europe," the Complexity CEO shared in a press conference on his stream. "He ultimately decided to return [to the United States] approximately 24 hours ago, and he informed the team he'd be returning to the US at the conclusion of the EPL playoffs." Obo's only failing was just leaving. The team should have sent him home. Could have avoided this whole disaster and come back at the same strength. And Obo himself could be on his way to becoming a top 20 player in Complexity in 2021.

I wonder if it was something where the writing was on the wall that the team never wanted to leave Europe. Though, I do know complexity has their hq in the USA. But being 17 and realizing that he would pretty much be stuck in the UK for the forseeable future after6 months there already. All in all, it was probably the right decision to choose family and happiness over status and wealth.
