The Swedish player's stint with the Ninjas has officially come to an end.

Simon "⁠twist⁠" Eliasson has been released from his contract with Ninjas in Pyjamas, the Swedish player announced on Tuesday. The 26-year-old had been benched ahead of BLAST Premier Spring Groups, in which the team fielded Young Ninjas member Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson as a stand-in and managed to beat Astralis and BIG to qualify for the Spring Final.

twist joined Ninjas in Pyjamas from fnatic in September 2019 as an AWPer, but he transitioned to a rifling role halfway through 2020 as Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson took over sniping duties. His removal from the starting lineup came after a dismal run of form that saw him finish all tournaments in the last six months with below-average numbers.

twist is officially a free agent

"We've decided to release twist from his contract, so he can find a new home, given all the hard work he's done here," Ninjas in Pyjamas Chief Operating Officer Jonas Gundersen wrote on Twitter.

On Twitter, twist said that he's uncertain about his future, but stressed that he is "eager" to compete again. Other than Ninjas in Pyjamas and fnatic, he has also played for teams like SK, LGB and GODSENT in the past.

Ninjas in Pyjamas are yet to announce whether ztr will take twist's spot permanently. The Swedish team will return to action next week, in the Play-in stage of IEM Katowice.

idk how he plays t side currently, but it will be interesting how t side works as 100% karrigan 1st entry and rain 2nd. After that who will be the lurker baiting (cold? maybe twistzz?) is broky in the entry pack or just baiting behind in awp. also realistically I dont think its that big of an issue as it can be solved.

never understood the decision to get him in the first place. worst buy of a player for nip ever. finally they came to their senses. i‘m glad threat was overruled and twist got kicked. he once was a good player, like 3/4 years ago. nip should have bought golden when they had the chance. golden (igl), plopski, naawk, lekr0, hampus would be a sick roster. and yeah: get rid of rez. not a star player. he had one good tournament in his career and that was in 2018. c‘mon, nip!

rather -lekro +rez hampus has great game sense, can be 2nd/mid-round caller. saw an interview where a coach says that its too annoying playing against hampus cos of all the shenanigans he brings. they have enough firepower, all they need is to activate properly via good calls

you need someone with balls and experience in this squad. the current squad is too green. the only one with balls is hampus. no one is really stepping up and taking responsibility. there is no backbone. regarding rez: to me it seems his hair and instagram are more important to him, than playing on a high level. he is average. and sometimes peaks. same thing with lekr0, but at least he has more experience and balls.

Yeah,and the next day they got destroyed on the same Vertigo 16:2 lmao. I'm NiP fan but you have to admit they were better with Lekr0 than with hampus. I really think that hampus should've replaced twist and release Lekr0 from igl role cause without that he'd be even better. But that's just my opinion. They literally pick Overpass and lose on it. Yes they have won aswell but why'd you pick a map where you have 40% winrate. Their ONLY map with above 50% winrate is inferno. If you say that's improvement from Lekr0 you're just delusional.

Yes because Vertigo is quite literally their shitties map, no idea why they didn't ban it but that has nothing to do with anything. + They have only played 6 maps together with this lineup and won 4 of those (Against #1 and #4), so i really wouldn't be crying about maps. If it makes me delusional that i can see this team has way more potential and perform better than with Lekr0 then yes i am delusional.

RN it's their worst map. At the start of last year they could win anyone on it. They won on it against astralis twice. Yes,rn i think it's not a bad idea to keep ztr. But at the same time i wanted to see how this NiP team would've been if instead of Lekr0 they kicked twist when they got hampus. IMO they'd be fighting for top5 considering their pretty good results last few months with Lekr0.

You can't tell from 3 bo3 yet. 2 of which were against same team and in one they lost miserably on first map of vertigo. I really hope they go for top5 but you can't say anything rn. Have they got potential? Hell yea,but potential isn't everything. I have been w/NiP since i started playing in late 2014 so trust me i've seen them get good form and then drop it off so i won't get my hopes up too high.

ZTR is only 17 years old and hes already competing in tier 1 cs. I would say its good to cultivate younger players so they can become beasts in the future. Look at Brollan, he started competing at 15 (in tier 2 cs) and now hes one of the best players in tier 1 cs
