The team has decided to go another way after negotiations with Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong fell through.

chrisJ's loan period with FunPlus Phoenix has come to an end, the organization has announced. The team has added Miikka "⁠suNny⁠" Kemppi as a stand-in ahead of their campaign in ESL Pro League Season 13, which will take place on March 8-April 11.

"Unfortunately, we could not make a mutual agreement with chrisJ that works for both parties on time, and that's why we decided to try out another player," FunPlus Phoenix's General Manager, Petar Marković, said in a statement. "We would like to wish Chris best of luck in his future endeavors."

chrisJ returns to mousesports' bench

chrisJ had only been a part of FPX for a little over a month, after he joined the team as the new in-game leader in a loan deal from MOUZ while negotiations over his permanent transfer and individual contract took place. Albeit short, the Dutchman's stay with the European roster was successful, as FunPlus Phoenix placed second to Spirit in DreamHack Open January and won Snow Sweet Snow 1 over Gambit in a span of two weeks.

suNny joins FPX on a stand-in basis after he last made headlines in mid-February, when he was released from his contract with ENCE following the Finnish organization's decision to overhaul the team and shift to an international project.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to the FPX roster once before when they were still part of GODSENT late last year, before the Finn tried to build a new team alongside Robin "⁠flusha⁠" Rönnquist and Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta. Those plans ended up falling through earlier this year as a result of a lack of interest from established organizations, with the American player switching to VALORANT shortly after, but suNny has since stated that he remained open to linking up with flusha.

FunPlus Phoenix will field the following lineup in ESL Pro League Season 13:

From this I got the idea that it was actually ChrisJ who didnt want to go to FPX? Mouse were happy to let Chris go on loan so I cant see why they wouldnt extend the loan period to FPX. Also FPX have a decent financial backing so doubt that was the issue. Not to mention Mouse terminated Karrigans contract rather than running it out. I really dont think this is mouse being greedy
