Complexity defeat FunPlus Phoenix in ESL Pro League Group A opening match

Complexity sustained their condition as favorites in the series, taking out FunPlus Phoenix in two maps.

Complexity tallied a convincing victory against FunPlus Phoenix on Nuke (16-6) and Dust2 (16-10) to secure the first three points up for grabs in the Group A round robin stage at ESL Pro League Season 13 ahead of the two other matches of the day, HEROIC vs. Renegades at 15:30 and BIG vs. OG at 19:00 .

Miikka "suNny" Kemppi started in an official match for the first time this year as a stand-in for FunPlus Phoenix, breaking a 97-day spell since his last appearance, and took three opposing players down in the first pistol round of the game, tilting the balance in FPX's favor as they got under way on the attacking side of Nuke.

poizon was firing on all cylinders in the opening match against FPX

Complexity turned the tides with a third round pistol defense thanks to three frags by William "RUSH" Wierzba and went on to dominate on the defense, winning several close late rounds situations and hitting double digits before giving up the last couple of rounds in a 10-5 half. Justin "jks" Savage downed three CTs in the second pistol round to clear the path to a 16-6 victory.

Mimicking the first map, Complexity turned around another lost pistol round on Dust2 early on, although Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and company weren’t able to run away this time as FunPlus Phoenix kept it close on the defense all the way to the half, trailing by only one before switching sides.

blameF mowed down four players with USP headshots in the second pistol round to keep his team in the lead, and although FunPlus Phoenix found a lifeline winning a Desert Eagle and armor buy when down 7-12, a 1vs2 clutch by blameF the following round swung momentum back in Complexity’s favor as they went on to close the map and series out 16-10.

bro if you think jugi is good then who's the real bad player? like jugi had minimal impact, poizon came back and immediately the team got way better, blameF even said the team atmosphere is way better with him, everyone plays well if poizon plays well like dont be dumb my guy

emi actually brought in good results in just 2 weeks time with the team though. Not to add how he also won a Dreamhack Open with CR4ZY after hunter and nexa left and brought CR4ZY to a Major as a coach. I've been personally following emi and he greatly improved as a player individually since the first time he transfered from coach to player in CR4ZY therefore I'm positive he'd keep bringing good results to the team.

I agree with this 100%. They removed krystal once, then got him back cuz the team just flat out failed. But it seems that they didn't learn the 1st time and thought now it would work :D

Not really he is doing his job in the team and becoming less of a liability than what he was when he first joined complexity. This will probably stay this way, he probably was overhyped due to being really the only star in 100T and the only amazing anchor in NA. So when he was brought to EU in a team full of stars not only did he have to readjust to a team he had to learn how to not play the lurking role and his stats don't look as good because he is surrounded by players of his skill.

Well Complexity seems to show some kind of potential again, some kind of change will probably still be needed to make this roster T1 again, but atleast they are showing some kind of potential. We need to keep in mind that FPX has barely showed any life in them recently, and will probably make more changes soon.
