fnatic to miss IEF 2009 after all

fnatic have confirmed they will not attend International E-sports Festival 2009.

The Swedish giants had been credited with an interest in attending the Asian tournament, which will take place from October 30 through to November 1 in the South Korean city of Suwon.

However, the Extreme Masters Dubai champions have now issued a statement to counteract the stories, explaining they have declined the invitation to participate in the competition due to scheduling conflicts.

Instead, the Swedish team will stay in their homeland and practice for the WCG World Finals, which will be held from November 11-15 in Chengdu, China.

This means that SK Gaming are now the only non-Asian side confirmed at the event, making it a seven-team list that looks as follows:

Sweden SK Gaming
Korea WeMade Fox
China TyLoo
China wNv.cn
Singapore TitaNs
Taiwan UMX
Hong Kong RS-Gaming

Well Sweden is dominating the CS scene atm (and past a few years too..) .. top 3 teams probably - fnatic, SK, mYm - are swedish.

if they were playing together for a bit longer period of time like SK or fnatic does, they would prove their skill in many more tournaments

That was my point. I interpreted your message as if you were saying that SK could win now just because fnatic had left, and you saying fnatic would've robbed the awards had they attended, only probated my interpretation, and don't forget fnatic losing to TyLoo quite hard when they played in China last time..

my friend,i know what you mean now. Sk beated fnatic at ChengDu, i think that just because SK changed two new players at that time.you know some team get new players, they get new power, which will make other teams upset. so, I think fnatic > SK now.and they did in Dubai:))))) and, let's enjoy WCG at ChengDu:)))

Correct me if I'm wrong, but playing against some of the best teams in the world does not count as TRAINING? I mean with witch team they can practice at home, if SK will be here, if mym will surly be here, h2k and many more, will they practice with mix teams or what?

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it, but I doubt both H2k and MYM will attend. And the travelling part isn't really easy, you really notice it when coming home, being tired when playing WCG wouldn't be that smart.

afaik carn hasnt won a wcg gold, so he probably really want that. Going to events = ~3 days of traveling = no praccing. Going to this event would also mean that they might need to show of some of the taccs they are working on for the WCG. Good choice to stay home imo. Work hard on the dust2 setups and so on..
