ENCE end HAVU's winning streak at 16 to book Nordic Masters spot

The international team prevailed in this exciting clash between the two biggest names in Finnish Counter-Strike.

ENCE have secured the first spot in the $25,000 Nordic Masters, one of the regional qualifiers for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, with a 2-1 victory over HAVU in the Pelaajatcom Series Showoff, ending the Finnish side's 16-match winning streak.

Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer's side, playing their first match since Snow Sweet Snow 1, over a month ago, drew first blood in the series by posting a convincing victory on Nuke. Overpass and Inferno both went down to the wire, with the final map being decided by a stunning 2v5 retake just when a second overtime seemed inevitable.

HAVU will now drop down to the Pelaajatcom Series Finals, in which they will have another shot at a Nordic Masters spot against teams like SJ and KOVA.

Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila came out with a vengeance against his former team, racking up 15 frags as HAVU romped to a 7-3 lead on the CT side of Nuke. But the game got away from them after that: Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi led ENCE's comeback efforts as the team brought the deficit to a solitary round before the side switch, and then Paweł "⁠dycha⁠" Dycha and Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli helped the team keep the Terrorists at bay in a one-sided second half.

HAVU hit back on Overpass, though things looked a bit dire for them in the early stages. The Finnish team ended the half down by just one round and, after a shaky start to the second half, shut out ENCE with confidence, locking down the map in the 30th round off the back of a momentum-shifting clutch by Aerial.

ENCE jumped out to a 5-1 lead on the CT side of Inferno, but the rest of the half was controlled by HAVU, who went into the break with a three-round lead. Snappi's side came out of the break with renewed impetus and hit series point at 15-13, but they would manage to close out the game in overtime in a jaw-dropping 2v5 clutch by Snappi and allu on the A site.

Yeah, no prep time and no demos to watch. They played very well, considering how much Saw likes to antistrat. Only map i was disappointed was nuke, it looked a bit sloppy.

Disappointed HAVU didn't make it (though they will through qualifiers), but ENCE's form is surprisingly good under Snappi. dycha and Spinx are insane, too.

Well kinda unfair match, bc of amount of tactical advantage ence has against havu is huge. Its really hard to play against team who has not played official matches for long time, so havu dont have data how ence like to play and make some anti strats. Still havu but a close match. Ence steal that nordic master spot.

ENCE is looking pretty good, they still need to build their chemistry together, but I believe it will come with time, and I think that with time and a lot of practice they can be a TOP 20 team. HAVU on the other side is already a great team, in my opinion they are already TOP 20 atm., and I think that's it's actually a big surprise that ENCE got a win here, GJ by them.
