FURIA and paiN will meet in a domestic matchup for survival in the lower bracket.
Two straightforward games concluded the BO1 phase of DreamHack Masters Spring 2021. After winning FunSpark ULTI 2020 Europe Finals and then crashing out of the IEM Summer closed qualifier, BIG put up a masterclass against FURIA, taking them down 16-6 on Vertigo.
The world No. 2 and winners of ESL Pro League Season 13, HEROIC, lived up to their status in their opening game of DreamHack Masters Spring against paiN. The Brazilians mustered little more than sporadic success, as Casper "cadiaN" Møller and co. took the victory on Nuke, 16-6.
The results set up a BIG - HEROIC upper bracket semi-final, the winner of which will at minimum secure a place in the quarter-finals of the playoffs. The two sides last met in March in the group stage of Pro League, where the Danes were victorious 2-1.
FURIA, who are now on a four-match losing streak, will be optimistic about staying alive in DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 as they face countrymen paiN. The team featuring Rafael "saffee" Costa and Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt rose to No. 27 in the world ranking thanks to success in North America but are yet to prove themselves on the Old Continent.
