Anonymo, Sprout qualify for Flashpoint 3

The closed qualifier will come to an end on Friday with the fifth-place decider.

Anonymo and Sprout have booked spots in Flashpoint 3 following victories over DBL PONEY and HAVU, respectively, in the fourth round of the lower bracket. The pair join MOUZ and Complexity in qualifying for the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, which will run between May 10-30 and feature a double-elimination, best-of-three bracket.

DBL PONEY and HAVU are not out of contention just yet, however, as they will face off on Friday in the fifth-place decider for the final qualifying berth in the RMR competition.

Snax's Anonymo will compete in the RMR tournament

Anonymo were first to qualify for the RMR competition as they required only two maps to beat DBL PONEY, stopping the French team in their tracks after they had defeated ENCE, Movistar Riders and Endpoint earlier in the bracket. The Polish side, headlined by EMS One Katowice 2014 champion Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski, comfortably ran out winners on Nuke before pulling off a sensational comeback from 13-5 down on Vertigo.

Sprout looked primed to secure qualification for the main event as they dispatched HAVU 16-6 on Dust2, but then the Finnish side bounced back on Train with a dominant performance from Lasse "⁠ZOREE⁠" Uronen (1.79 rating and 105 ADR). The decider map, Nuke, began with an 11-4 CT half from Sprout, who then held off HAVU's valiant comeback in the second half to secure victory.

Flashpoint has not yet announced what will happen with the final tournament spot, which belonged to North. The players who competed for the Danish side in DreamHack Open Fall, the final RMR tournament of 2020, are now scattered across various teams, none of which has the necessary 3/5 of the North roster in order to retain the spot.
