Spirit survive MIBR scare at IEM Cologne; NIP, mousesports coast past opponents

The Brazilian team wasted seven match points in an agonising defeat.

Spirit are one victory away from IEM Cologne's main stage following a close victory over MIBR in a double-overtime Inferno game. The CIS team, ranked 14th in the world, were made to work hard to beat their determined opponents, who entered the tournament outside the top 50 in the world rankings.

The defeat will long sting for the Brazilians, who failed to convert seven match points - four in regulation and three in overtime - as they crumbled under the pressure in the final stages, losing many close situations. They will fight for survival in the tournament later on Thursday against the loser of Vitality vs. Renegades.

Meanwhile, Ninjas in Pyjamas made light work of LDLC on Ancient in the main-stream match. The Swedish team barely had to break a sweat to move past their opponents, with Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz showing glimpses of his dangerous self as he led the Ninjas to victory with a 1.59 rating, raising eyebrows late in the first half with a 1v3 clutch.

Later on Tuesday, Ninjas in Pyjamas will take on MOUZ for a spot in the main stage after the international team made light work of Bad News Bears on Nuke. The North American side jumped out to an early lead but MOUZ quickly erased the deficit and never looked back on their way to victory.
