FireGamers out despite fnatic win

FireGamers are out of the tournament on the opening day despite a shock 17-13 win over fnatic in their last match.

The Brazilian side knew they had a moutain to climb after losing 20-10 to wNv.cn on earlier in the day, but they still came into the game very confident of a win.

FireGamers started out better, winning the pistol round, after which they were surprised by a well-organised eco strategy from fnatic.

Although de_train is known to be one of fnatic´s strongest maps, the Swedish side could not impose themselves as T as they went into the second half losing 9-6.

Now playing as CT, fnatic came out strongly, winning the first five rounds, but then it was almost an all-FG show, inspired by their recent addition, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo.

In the end, FG posted a 17-13 win, which falls short, though, as they finish third of their group based on the round difference between the three tied teams.

Guys it doesn't matter if FG had a better round difference from a win vs Executioners. In case of 3 or more teams having the same number of points, the following rules will be applied in order listed: a) Head To Head (The winner of the matches between the affected teams) b) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches between the affected teams. c) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches d) Rematch (The map will be drawn.). Read 'em and weep!

Guys, just read the official WCG rules. In case of a 3-way-tie in points, the round difference will count, but only concerning the teams involved, so: 1. wNv 2. fnatic 3. Firegamers

This isn't new at all. A lots of LANs use this kind of system, which is actually way more fair to the top teams. No one cares, that who could win more rounds against lower class teams in the group. Anyway FG would have deserved to move on too, but WCG made their groups random again. A seeding would have been nice :S

No offense. I didn't mean unfair to the staff... Don't you thing after the great game against fnatic, FG deserved to be qualified? And fairness comes to play when luck isn't a part of the game. So, rather than having random draws. Groups should be drawn according to some different criteria(like say according to seeds or rankings) such that luck remains out of picture. Go WCG!!! but try to go fair too.

dont add others. wnv20:10 fg wnv14:16 fnatic fg 17:13 fnatic so.wnv34/16 fnatic 29/31 fg27/33 just one round..if fg18:12fnatic. then, fnatic 28/32=fg. then there were an extra match.

I think they face each other ahead of the grand final, if there is no double elimination of course. Because Nix or MIRAA had predicted that mTw could face fnatic in the final, and I think he was quite sure fnatic would finish 1st in their group.

As nix0n mentioned you count only round difference between the three teams that are tied if this happens. wNv: 8 fnatic: -2 FG: -6 Strange rule imo and fnatic are damn lucky to still be in this tournament. :/

key words italiced In case of 3 or more teams having the same number of points, the following rules will be applied in order listed: a) Head To Head (The winner of the matches between the affected teams) b) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches between the affected teams. c) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches d) Rematch (The map will be drawn.). e) If all of the teams do not qualify to advance to the next phase, they are deemed tied with same ranking. in this situation solution a) doesnt work out due to each team has a win. heres the result of solution b): WNV +8 FNATIC -2 FG -6

LOL. There's nothing more than a funny situation. WCG Rules are different of all other tournaments. That's good to see how unfair are the rules and the groups of this event =). If the rules were different, It would change ALL of positions in the group. So , is it fair ?

Great game for fg, but it's not entirely a rule issue. If they would've won (or loose a little bit narrowed) against wnv, they wouldn't have been sent home so early. It's not like wcg organizers said "Let's take this dudes out of the tournament 'cause we don't like them".

Just answering #143... In the ESL Rules , 1-> Fnatic 2-> FireGamers 3-> wNv The game between FireGamers and xcn at nuke was 25-05, I watched all the game. So, I still thinking if a game decided by (problematic?) rules are really fair. edit : If f0rest did not defuse in the last round, so fnatic (top team of the world) would be out of play offs.

Its hard for most ppl to see a team who has beaten fnatic being kicked off WCG by a team that can only play d2, well, FG played great, it sucks, true, but theres nothing we can do :|

that's quite true indeed after all, there are really not much differences between those top teams but if the rules are unfair, they are unfair to every team involved this time it just turned out to be disadvantageous to FG

rules were known before the tournament started, so stop whining, if fg and wnv situation was switched, wnv would pack... its just lame to blame the rules, theyre the same for everyone. the only thing which is a little unfair is the way groups are being drawn (unfair to better teams). However if a team wants to win the tournament group doesnt mattet.

Not commentin on your question. But let me comment this :Stop being fucking moral/intellectual police discussing pros and cons of the rules which have been told to each and every team long before the tournament started. It is not like that God descended and put his words in Forest ears to defuse the bomb in the last round otherwise you are are going home..... It was all hard luck and FG took the bullet.Simple.

Dude, I really would like to discuss this with you but I can't decypher your language. However I will make myself clear: Let's see the rules (which are obviously fair): a) Head To Head (The winner of the matches between the affected teams) b) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches between the affected teams. c) Number of in-game rounds won during group matches d) Rematch (The map will be drawn.). e) If all of the teams do not qualify to advance to the next phase, they are deemed tied with same ranking Rule a) doesn't apply Rule b): fnatic x wNv : 16 - 14 fnatic x FG : 13 - 17 FG x wNv : 10 - 20 fnatic's rounds: 29 wNv's rounds: 31 FG's rounds: 27 wNv places first, fnatic places second, FG places third. First inform yourself, then talk.
