nak: "Hard to lose like this"

HLTV.org caught up with FireGamers captain Renato "nak" Nakano after his team's early exit at the WCG.

The Brazilian team registered an amazing 17-13 win over fnatic in their last group match, a result which is, however, not enough to see them through.

A three-way tie at the top was decided by the round difference between the tied teams, which ruled that FireGamers finished third with a -6 record, behind wNv.cn (+8 record) and fnatic (-2).

After the match, Nakano blamed the heavy defeat to wNv.cn for his side's early exit in the tournament.

"We are thinking about those silly rounds we gave away against wNv after we had lost the match and that now make a difference, we are out because of 4 rounds, if we had made two more rounds against fnatic, if wNv had made one more round on the stage, we would be through," he told HLTV.org.

"It's hard to lose like this, because of small details, but we were in a hard group and we knew it would be like this, decided by details, but it is okay, we got here in our first international event and we beat fnatic so it was worth it.

"What happened was a bit of nervousness against the Chinese team, which costed us a few rounds. de_dust2 is a weak map for us, and we did not start well, we started losing pretty bad, then we turned things around, we still won the pistol as CT but we lost the second round, that's when we lost some motivation.

"Against fnatic, de_train is also one of our strongest maps, we were expecting a match like this, we played very well and I think they did not expect this defeat but there is nothing we can do, we are out. "

Nakano is confident his team can only improve in the future after defeating fnatic, who are regarded as one of the strongest contenders for the WCG title, in FireGamers' first international appearance.

"We are happy to have won against fnatic but sad because of those little rounds we needed to go through, now we will try to get a sponsor to play in some other tournaments out there because the team now has more experience and I think it will be better next time," he added.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org for full coverage of the 2009 World Cyber Games.

Please read what you wrote. You are saying that random 5 guys can win wcg , even if they play cs for the first time and compete in an international level for the first time? "Because it's not matter of skill at all" - lol. They are playing cs not roulette dude. It's all about skill ! If they didn't advance to playoffs, it was due to the fact that wnv and fnatic played better (read: more skilled)

no point in arguing with you, as we see you cant understand english enough to understand my comment which you replyed to. Nobody was talking about FG, who they are and what they have achieved etc. What has that to do with the fact that wnv and fnatic play better and FG is out ? Please don't reply me if your IQ is not above 60

Yes, you didn't say random 5 guys, but if you win, it's because you are better than your enemy, there is nothing to do with luck. Wins team who is more skilled. And tactics are also skill, not luck. So fanboys crying that FG is out due to the bad luck, they are wrong.

Come on, if you actually read the interview, you'd notice they needed more then a round. A three-way tie at the top was decided by the round difference between the tied teams, which ruled that FireGamers finished third with a -6 record, behind wNv.cn (+8 record) and fnatic (-2). How come they wouldve advance with just a round? Itd be fnatic -3 FG -5, still the same

yeah but I don't like the way they always suck at the start then end up winning. it doesn't feel like a true, perfect win. don't get me wrong, fnatic is my favorite team, that's why I'm getting pissed off by this, I wouldn't care if it was another team. a team like this shouldn't get through as 2nd in their group thanks to round difference, they should beat everybody in the group like all the other top teams did in their respective groups and that's it.

FalleN has been around in the Brazilian scene since a long time ago, always with good awp performances. He clearly played way better than cogu in the WCG qualifier, and even before that in his former teams he was already getting attention for his awp play. He didn't get in the team out of nowhere, there was a reason they put him in, and that's because everyone in the national scene knew he could do some serious damage :). Besides, a good 6000 people watched their WCG qualifier final against MiBR, and even their other matches had an average of ~1000 spectators, so he could've seen him before then.

You can't say that they're much weaker team, they have won ESWC 3 years ago over fnatic. The difference is, you can't compare the way that sweden teams have to train in their own home while brazil has shit connection and it's hard to find a good team to train.

Sad :( FG could have owned everyone in grp A. Silly WCG random draw imo! They really deserved to go through after a solid performance. I bet Millenium and parallax advancing from grp A will be out after first knockout round. FG would have added some of that brazilian spice we´ve been missing for so long to the tournament. And yeah, like saikyo mentions, to bad that Sequential didnt advance either. 15-11 and then drawing and being knocked out is tough.

dont be sure fg could beat fnatic. fnatic always (i mean always) loses one match in every group-stage cause they dont want to show any of their tactics.they do that with meaning so fnatic know that they will go through the group-stage without doubts.

Well, Firegamers has done a very good job, since they (and almost teams from Brasil) doesn't has any support by any company (i'm talking about money aswell). Everybody knows that is SO dificult for a Brasilian team comes on and play as hard as an anothers. For all these "Chinas" fan: Who are you to talk about Firegamers, or Mibr? Nak, Bruno and Fnx won THE MOST IMPORTANT champioship ever on 2006, and you guys haven't ever done something really important like this. Firemagers: We (Brasilian) are honored and proud to whatever you have done. Cya.

aaah, don't make em more than they are, the most important championship ever, might be a bit too much, remember we've hade huge CPL's too, like 2003 winter and so on, plus stuff like WEG and other things.

It was this time, but hopefully they can get a good sponsorship in order to participate in more international competitions. Congratulations FIREGAMERS ;D

FG/Mibr always gets in the hardest group in the group stage.. and to be eliminated this way is really sad. well played overall though. go FG!

I didn't watch the match and I don't know FG performance against fnatic. But it's sad to see they didn't advance for minimums details like a couple of rounds.
