NKT win 2-0 to secure IEM Fall Asia open qualifier

With this victory NKT round out the team list for the closed qualifier.

NKT, current home to ex-Grayhound rifler Erdenetsogt "⁠erkaSt⁠" Gantulga, completed their comfortable cruise through the second IEM Fall Asia open qualifier by besting CatEvil 2-0 in the grand final. Both teams went into this best-of-three having experienced little trouble in the single elimination best-of-one phase of the qualifier, NKT also being by far the highest rated team at the event.

NKT join Checkmate, Wings and Invictus in the closed qualifier, which takes place September 17-19, where two spots at IEM Fall will be up for grabs.

CatEvil almost got off to the perfect start on their pick of Mirage, taking favourites NKT all the way to overtime before falling at the final hurdle. NKT have Tengis "⁠sk0R⁠" Batjargal to thank for carrying them over the finish line, the young rifler posting a 1.63 rating and 34 kills to help take the map.

Overpass, NKT's pick, was a very different story. A one sided affair saw CatEvil post a measly four rounds as NKT quickly put the series to bed, securing themselves a spot in the closed qualifier.

No it's possible but very unlikely. To qualify NKT would have to win the event, with Checkmate getting 2nd place.

Yeah apparently it's actually possible but checkmate... I really haven't seen them doing too well other than first open quali, highly doubt they would even place 3rd in the closed quali

I hope they can get their chance with this to be honest, because they haven't been showing up lately but their overpass against CatEvil looked better. Maybe they are able to actually get into IEM Fall 2021 Asia now and show themselves

definitely. The whole project is starting to show results at a level it hadn't reached since BTRG in 2019. As long as sk0r keeps doing well I see this team going places.

Honestly they have been doing really well in all previous tourneys other than the first open quali. They bested Tyloo, IG, Renewal, and WU to win the Funspark Asia Playoff. They probably gonna rep Asia above Tyloo for the Funspark grand final

They still don't have an org after getting 1st in 3 out of their last 4 tournaments, so I'm both happy and worried for them. I think they definitely can get EU invitations tho, then we can see what they can actually do

This superteam was dropped by their org, no? Are they grinding with or without an org now? Anyway gj by them but Vici and Tylul are 2 superhouses of the region and I don't see anyone taking them down soon

They didn't get dropped - the org turned out to be a scam. Also Tyloo just got beaten by both Invictus and Wings Up in the last Funspark Asia event (Playoff) which NKT won. I see them and ViCi as current best teams in Asia instead, but ViCi is probably better.
