Heroic, Astralis tally victories in Group B openers; Sinners defeat Complexity
SINNERS, HEROIC and Astralis all hold a 1-0 record after their opening best-of-ones.
Two of the three Group B teams expected to tally three points in their IEM Fall opening matches did so, as HEROIC and Astralis claimed solvent victories, but Complexity came out on the wrong end of a close map against SINNERS.
HEROIC’s victory was played in a strange match on Dust 2 against Movistar Riders, a map neither of the teams play regularly, while Astralis beat an Endpoint playing with Sabit "mirbit" Coktasar standing in for Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas, who wasn’t able to secure a visa in time to attend the event in Sweden.

Complexity were first out of the gate on the attacking side of Nuke, but SINNERS dominated the CT side once guns were in play and went on a nine round rampage, allowing only two more rounds to go to the terrorists before halftime.
Up 10-5 SINNERS put together a strong B play in the second pistol round to keep increasing their lead, but a big clutch by Marcelo "coldzera" David two rounds later got Complexity fired up again. The international squad then cut the distances, looking great in the process, and retook the lead for the first time since the dawn of the match, albeit only momentarily as SINNERS snatched the map 16-13 to secure their first win.
Astralis and Endpoint traded rounds on Overpass, with the British squad taking the lead on the defense after their forcebuy victory, but the Danes didn’t let issues get out of hand and took the reins of the match early on to lead by three at the half.
Endpoint weren’t able to make an A play work in the second pistol round and gave their rivals double digits and a hefty lead, which Emil "Magisk" Reif and company took and ran away to victory, 16-7, with Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth topping the scoreboard by averaging a 1.88 rating.
HEROIC and Movistar Riders went to Dust2 in the veto, a map that has been a first ban in vetoes for both teams, historically. In this duel of neophytes it was the Danes who took the lead on the attack with Casper "cadiaN" Møller taking point in his team’s three-round lead at the half.
The Spaniards weren’t able to keep up after the switch, losing the pistol round as HEROIC took a 12-6 lead, although they bounced back after securing a forcebuy round and following it up. The comeback didn’t last long, however, as the Danish squad put their foot down and closed proceedings 16-10.
The Group B standings after the first day of play are:
IEM Fall 2021 Europe

Justin 'jks' Savage
Valentin 'poizon' Vasilev
Joey 'CRUC1AL' Steusel
Sabit 'mirbit' Coktasar
