IEM Fall EU: What to look out for in round 4 matches*

The group stage of IEM Fall has reached its penultimate round and we've already seen two teams eliminated from contention for a spot at the Major. What else can we learn today?

Update 18:38 : Corrected the last Group A bullet point. G2 and MOUZ both winning would only lock FunPlus Phoenix and AURA out. BIG would be only locked out of contention for top three if they lost to AURA in that case.

Update 18:12 : Fiend losing their match would see them place in the bottom three in any scenario and outside of contention for the Major.

Round four of IEM Fall Europe, the final Regional Major Ranking tournament ahead of PGL Major Stockholm, is kicking off at 19:00 . Most teams are still in contention for the playoffs as well as for Major spots and no one has guaranteed theirs yet, but we are getting to a point where we could learn the first few names by the end of the day.

A win today would send Vitality to the Major

Everyone other than a couple of exceptions are still looking towards a finish in the points among the top-11 teams and have a chance to qualify for the Major. A top two placing in the group automatically guarantees at least 1,406 points in the RMR standings, while a top three placing in the group sends teams to a 9th-12th decider bracket in which they can play for between 938 for 11th place and 1,250 points for 9th place.

You can find out what exactly that means for each team's chances to qualify for the Major in our RMR standings breakdown, but for a more simple overview of what we can definitively learn today, read our bullet points for each group below:

Group B - Astralis a win away from the Major

Current standings
1-2. Denmark Astralis (3W-0L)
1-2. Czech Republic SINNERS (3W-0L)
3-5. Europe Complexity (1W-2L)
3-5. Denmark HEROIC (1W-2L)
3-5. Spain Movistar Riders (1W-2L)
6. United Kingdom Endpoint (0W-3L) - out of playoffs and Major contention

Round 4 matches
19:00 Europe Complexity vs. Denmark Astralis
19:00 Czech Republic SINNERS vs. Spain Movistar Riders
19:00 Denmark HEROIC vs. United Kingdom Endpoint

— Astralis winning would put them through to the playoffs and qualify them for the Major

— Sinners winning would put them through to the playoffs, not yet guarantee a Major spot

— Complexity, Movistar, and Heroic going 1-3 would put either of them out of playoffs contention and force them to play for the third spot

— Movistar will be out of top 3 and Major contention if they lose and Complexity and Heroic win

— Heroic out of top 3 if they lose and Movistar win

Group C - Vitality look to secure Major spot

Current standings
1. France Vitality (3-0)
2-4. Sweden Dignitas (2-1)
2-4. Europe OG (2-1)
2-4. Europe ENCE (2-1)
5-6. Germany Sprout (0-3) - out of playoffs contention
5-6. Europe MAD Lions (0-3) - out of playoffs contention

Round 4 matches
20:15 France Vitality vs. Europe ENCE
20:15 Europe MAD Lions vs. Germany Sprout
20:15 Sweden Dignitas vs. Europe OG

— Vitality winning would put them through to the playoffs and qualify them for to the Major

— Whoever loses between MAD Lions and Sprout will be out of top 3 and Major contention

— Sprout will be out if ENCE beat Vitality and/or Dignitas beat OG

— MAD Lions will be out if ENCE beat Vitality and/or OG beat Dignitas

— No guarantees for Dignitas, OG, ENCE

Group D - Only one of the Swedish teams remains in contention

Current standings
1. Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas (3-0)
2-3. Europe FaZe (2-1)
2-3. France DBL PONEY (2-1)
4-5. Bulgaria SKADE (1-2)
4-5. Bulgaria Fiend (1-2)
6. Sweden fnatic (0-3) - out of top 3 and Major contention

Round 4 matches
21:30 Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Sweden fnatic
21:30 Europe FaZe vs. Bulgaria SKADE
21:30 France DBL PONEY vs. Bulgaria Fiend

— NIP winning wouldn't lock them into playoffs and the Major yet alone, as they can enter a three-way with FaZe and DBL Poney for first place, but it will if SKADE beat FaZe and/or Fiend beat DBL Poney

— Fiend losing would eliminate them from top 3 and Major contention

— DBL Poney and FaZe both winning at the same time would lock out the top three, eliminating SKADE and Fiend from top 3 and Major contention

— fnatic are already out of top three and Major contention

Group A - Flames lead ahead of the favorites

Current standings
1. Denmark Copenhagen Flames (3-0)
2-3. Europe G2 (2-1)
2-3. Europe MOUZ (2-1)
4-5. Germany BIG (1-2)
4-5. Europe FunPlus Phoenix (1-2)
6. Sweden AURA (0-3) - out of playoffs contention

Round 4 matches
22:45 Europe G2 vs. Europe FunPlus Phoenix
22:45 Europe MOUZ vs. Denmark Copenhagen Flames
22:45 Germany BIG vs. Sweden AURA

— AURA losing would eliminate them from top 3 and Major contention

— Copenhagen Flames winning would lock them into playoffs, not yet guarantee a Major spot

— G2 and mousesports both winning at the same time would lock FPX, AURA out of the top 3

"G2 and mousesports both winning at the same time would lock FPX, BIG, AURA out of the top 3" it is not true, if g2 and mouz will win, they will be both 3-1 and cph flames also will be 3-1, if we assume that big will wil with AURA they will be 2-2, and if tomorrow big will win with cph, they will be both 3-2 and additonally g2 or mouz will be 3-2, beacause they will face each other
