Copenhagen Flames secure playoff berth in Group A

The Danish underdogs have given themselves every chance, but still need a top six finish to lock themselves in for the Major.

Copenhagen Flames continued their sensational run at IEM Fall by securing their playoff berth and first place in the group with yet another impressive victory, this time comfortably besting MOUZ on Nuke.

Whilst this gives them a fantastic chance of reaching the Major, the minimum requirement being a top 10 finish, it is not yet guaranteed; they would need to finish in the top six to put qualification beyond doubt at the moment.

HooXi's team have been the surprise package of the event thus far

Whilst the result will be a disappointment for MOUZ, it does not leave them high and dry by any means. They are one of the teams who came into this event in the enviable position of being able to qualify even if they crashed out of IEM Fall empty handed, and only need top 11 to ensure they are in attendance in Stockholm.

G2 continued their charge for the playoff spot that would seal their Major berth, beating out FunPlus Phoenix on Inferno. This means the boys in black have already secured top three in the group making the overall top 11 placing they need incredibly likely, and they could remove all doubt by beating MOUZ tomorrow, securing top eight at a minimum along with a Major spot.

FunPlus Phoenix now find themselves unable to make playoffs, and as such their chances of qualifying are looking increasingly remote; they need a top 11 finish to secure a spot, but in order to achieve third place in this group they need to beat AURA, have G2 and Copenhagen Flames win their final games, and win the MR3 tiebreakers that would ensue.

Elsewhere in the group, AURA saw their distant dreams of a spot at the Major whisked away in heartbreaking fashion, losing narrowly to BIG 14-16 on Mirage. Unfortunately for the Swedes, this loss locks them out of the top three and leaves them unable to secure any RMR points.

For the German squad, the victory means they stay in with a chance for the top 11 finish that would guarantee qualification. They need G2 to beat MOUZ tomorrow, and to win their own game against Copenhagen Flames to make it to the top three in the group.

Hey can we change the title so it fits in one line. The A on the second line is making my OCD brain trigger. Just change it from Playoff berth to Playoffs.

That is exactly was is about to happen today, either CPF, Sinners or MVR will make it with no points from 2020 or Flashpoint, on the other hand mouz, winners of Flashpoint can be eliminated...

That just makes absolutely no sense, and on a bo1 group stage 1 week after a massive gameplay update. i hope mouz and g2 make it to major or i will be tilted to pluto.

Mouz didn't get points before flashpoint. Every rmr event gives points. So it makes sense that other teams that didn't win rmr points before have a chance for qualifying

There are very very few chances that Mouz doesn't make it even if they finish last
