G2 defeat mousesports to clinch Major berth, IEM Fall Group A to have tiebreakers
MOUZ, BIG and FunPlus Phoenix will play tiebreakers for a spot in the 9-12th place bracket.
G2, who have had a rough start to the second season of 2021 following the summer break can breathe a little bit more freely having secured a spot at the IEM Fall playoffs and a berth at the Major which will be taking place later in the month.
Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and company did so by defeating what many thought would be their main rivals going into the group stage, MOUZ, in the last day of play, although it had already been Copenhagen Flames who stole the show in Group A with a 4-0 start before clearing the group stage without a loss.
The Danes taking the top seed and G2 rounding out the playoff teams now puts the other three top contenders in the group in a three-way tie as BIG, FunPlus Phoenix and the aforementioned MOUZ will play MR3 matches to see who gets into the 9-12th place bracket with only the Swedish underdogs of AURA out of contention.

G2’s important victory to secure Major qualification came on Mirage, where they started on the terrorist side. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and company started out confidently taking a 5-0 lead on the way to a 9-6 scoreline at the half, giving them a head start going into the defending side which ended in a crucial win.
This do-or-die match to make the playoffs wasn't the end of the road for MOUZ, however, as they will keep their hopes of accruing more points towards Major qualification alive if they can make the 9-12th place decider bracket.
Copenhagen Flames continued their plow in Group A with a victory over BIG in Vertigo, making their run a clean 5-0 and a top seed going into the playoffs, where they will fight for a good placing to secure Major qualification.
The Germans, fighting to try and get into the third-place spot avoiding a three-way tie weren’t able to show up on the CT side, and fell before being able to hit double digits on the map as the Danes continued to shine.
FunPlus Phoenix won a very important last match of the group stage to keep their only hope of making the Major alive, which was a three-way tie to fight for a spot in the 9-12th place decider bracket, which with losses by MOUZ and BIG occurred.
To do so, Martin "STYKO" Styk and company turned up the heat on Inferno against AURA after a slow start, winning ten rounds as terrorists before easing into a 16-9 victory in hopes of all other matches going their way for the tiebreakers to happen.
The Group A standings ahead of the tiebreakers are:
