Vitality secure Major spot; ENCE finish on top as OG misses playoffs

The final placements for Group C have been decided, leaving OG in a tough spot as they enter the 9th-12th place decider.

It was a quick day at the office for Vitality as their victory against Dignitas, combined with OG's defeat to MAD Lions, secured the Frenchmen a top 2 finish in Group C and a ticket to the Major.

OG fans do not need to panic yet, as Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen and co. can still secure a spot at the Major through the 9th-12th place decider, requiring ninth place to guarantee a spot in Stockholm at the end of the month and at least 11th place to have any chance.

Despite ENCE locking in a top 8 finish after defeating Sprout, their place at the major is not yet certain, as FaZe, OG, and BIG can earn enough points in the 9th-12th bracket to surpass them.

Vitality are the first team from their group to secure a major spot

The Frenchmen began Inferno with an exemplary CT side, which secured them a 13-2 lead at halftime and despite a short Dignitas resurgence, they were able to take the victory 16-8. Kévin "⁠misutaaa⁠" Rabier led the charge for his team, ending the map with a 1.30 rating.

Aleksib's men failed to make their presence known on the offensive side of Nuke due to an inspired performance by Volodymyr "⁠Woro2k⁠" Veletniuk, which relegated them to a 4-11 half. MAD Lions only dropped five rounds after switching sides before closing the map 16-9 in a game to forget for the OG side.

Sprout caused ENCE some troubles, as Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer's men were able to find their footing on the CT side and come back from a 0-5 deficit to close the half ahead 9-6. After switching sides ENCE controlled the game with a great defense and only conceded one round before securing the map 16-10.

I feel that the OG Dream is over for this year, this was the match needed and I don't think that they will even qualify for the Major, just focus on BLAST Showdown and try to qualify for the Finals.

of course it needs to be this way. The only more simple way is to have closed 1 off qualifying. But that means results in previous tournaments in the year mean nothing. 1 bad run and your not in the major. RMR can be complicated but it is a fair way of doing this. At the start of the RMR "season" all teams are in control of their destiny. Win your games and you are in the major. Lose and it becomes complicated.

Round difference is sometimes used for 3 way ties, the tie breakers are super complex. I once read the ESL rule book section for tiebreakers there's like 15 different scenarios of how to solve ties. 2 way ties are basically always done based on head to head, meaning the team that won against the other goes on top. If 3 or more teams are tied then everything is fucked basically.
