After quite a while in the unknown, Electronic Sports World Cup with new owners, have announced a 2010 event staged at Disneyland in Paris, France.
The ESWC brand was acquired by DIP-Organisation back in August, three months after the company behind ESWC (Games-Services) went bankrupt. The organizing committee today announces an ESWC event in 2010, more specific June 30th to July 4th in Disneyland.
ESWC 2010 staged in Disneyland
Held in the famous entertainment park, Disneyland will be the host for the participants, accommodating them during the tournament. It is announced that the total prize purse of the 2010 ESWC event will be $200.000 and will for now be featuring eight games (CS 1.6 male and female, WC3, Trackmania, Virtual Tennis, NFS: Shift, Street Fighter 4 and FIFA 2010).
It is announced that the qualifiers for the ESWC 2010 will start in January 2010 and the organizers aim to gather thirty-two different countries. Stay tuned for more updates regarding ESWC 2010.
Really nice! The best esports event is back.
Though making Virtual Tennis and Street Fighter 4 tournaments is just a waste of the prize money. They should give those prize money to cs, cuz cs is the hardest game to play out of all of these and cs always gets the worst prize money per player -.-

I kind of agree on that but that's what CS has to deal with... it must be hard for organizations to pay for 5 players that can gather around 100k a year when you have a WC3 player (1/5 the salary) who can gather around 50k all by himself.
Do the math, the WC3 player is more profitable. :o

The new owners have nothing to do with the former ESWC owners.
In consequences, DIP-Organisation is not in charge of any obligation to pay 2008 cash prize or any debt that have not been paid by the last organisation.
I know it sounds a bit protecting, but come on, give them a break, they try to make this brand keep on going.

I was about to say that they should pay out the money they owe teams instead of arranging new tournaments, but if this organisation has no obligations to pay anything, and the other company is bankrupt, who is going to pay the teams that still are waiting for their money?

@ micke
As far as I know there isnt contract between Games-Services & DIP-Organisation about paying the money that GS are owe to teams, nobody is obliged to suffer for their mistakes and shitty managment.I hope that DIP Orga wont scattered with money and wish them best of luck with leading such an huge name and brand, they should forget that money, but i guess that they already have done with that money =)

Apart from the event being hosted in Disney Land and the players being housed, are there any other visible ties made between the ESWC guys and Disney?
It would be quite incredible to have another big sponsor into esports events

As you meaby know that France in general is one big Disneyland :) I think they are not sure if the Mickey & Donald Duck went to national strike join the others from Disneyland fighting own rights. Schools have been closed and public transport disrupted, with demonstrations held in about 200 towns. Unions are demanding more is spent to protect workers in the recession. Unemployment has reached two million and is expected to rise further. Mr Sarkozy said that he "understands the concerns of the French people" but has ruled out plans for further measures.

I got this facebook message a few weeks ago, we talked about it on LO3 but you guys might find it interesting:
This weekend a big e-sports event was supposed to be held in Toulouse, France, the E-Games Festival. The organizing company was DIP Organisation, owned by Stéphane Cosse, the buyer of the ESWC brand and this was going to be the fourth edition.
I live in Barcelona. Toulouse is just 4 hour trip. Cosse said before the summer that there was a chance the ESWC to be held in Toulouse. I planned to attend to get to know the people that are planning to relaunch the ESWC. I was very curious as Cosse's also the guy behind ClickArena's epic fail.
Yesterday morning we (myself and my associate) arrived at the Toulouse Fair, the supposed venue, and -big surprise- there was no event.
We checked the website where there was no warning of the event's cancellation. Still there isn't. You can check it up at e-games-festival.com/
The event was listed in various websites as happening. For instance:
esp.cityvox.fr/eventos_toulouse/oc...Rec..
We were very angry. We went to the offices of DIP Organisation to ask what had happened and found that they had been recently abandoned.
++ END MSG ++

First Marvel then this what's next?
GTA?
Saw movies?
...
Whatever, this is the most stupid partnership ever, this is only for us to buy a 2 days ticket which cost around 120 euros (it was the price when i went there) then maybe to pay a ticket to the event.
I hope that im wrong but.
Sincerely i dont imagine how this is gone be but i think that this is very stupid.

Well I guess we have to call the Dota competitive tournaments over now... :(
But what is it in for HoN? Is it ever going to balance enough? And when?
Happy to hear about ESWC though, the best event there was. Looking forward the CS finals and the announcers!
