Power Gaming have been forced to skip DreamHack Winter, after learning that their member Niko "naSu" Kovanen is infect with the H1N1 virus.
Contacted by Managing Director Ben Woodward, HLTV.org was early Tuesday informed that Power Gaming will not be attending DreamHack Winter, after being familiar with the condition of Niko "naSu" Kovanen.
"Over the past 5 days we've wondered where naSu has been, as the public may of noticed we've used a stand-in in our last 2 Extreme Masters games in place of him. He came online last night to inform us he's been ill with the H1N1 virus that's seen him stuck in bed with a 40c temperature; he’s currently on medication and recovering", Woodward told HLTV.org
As a result of Kovanen's infection, Power Gaming will not be attending DreamHack Winter.
Kovanen infected with H1N1 virus
The condition of Kovanen might also force Power Gaming to skip World Esports Masters next month.
"In light of this news we'll unfortunately be skipping Dreamhack winter, our participation at next month's WEM tournament hangs in the balance, we may need to take a stand-in to the event, this will be decided over the coming days. Niko is making a good recovery but is far from fit enough to travel", he added.
Power Gaming was yesterday drawn into group with Spirit of Amiga and 2easy4 and a BYOC-qualifying team, what will happen to the empty spot Power Gaming left behind them, will be determined later Tuesday.
It is not the first time the H1N1 virus affects pro-gamers. The Norwegian team known as Vitriolic at the time, was after their appearance at GameGune this summer, infected with the virus. Prior to WCG 2009, UMX-Gaming had to cancel their attendance, due to symtoms of H1N1.
You're right that it's a normal flu. However H1N1 is MUCH more contagious than the regular flu. This is why people are so careful about it. It doesn't matter that it isn't more harmful...it's the fact about possibly hurting individuals weaker than you.
Don't argue with me on this point - we are learning about this in med school as a major topic.

that's right dude. the only different thing from this flu, is that is more contagious, nothing else... in my country, all the people were scared about this sh*t, but it's lie from politizians.

H1N1 is the name of the virus that spreads the flu while "Swine flu" is the nick name that this flu got as pigs(also called swine) are comman carrier of this virus.

Then why go to an event of even BIGGER caliber with a standin?

dude, i know all that. regular flue kills no1. unless u dont have white blood(?), who are the cells that fight virus and other stuff as u should know.. but h1n1 can kill, not by himself, but following WHO 3900 persons already died infected with h1n1.. but imagine this disease in poors countries that have absolutely no medical cares, AFRICA i mean, this would be a disaster dont u agree? now, for those of u guys that say that h1n1 is just a trick of big medicines companys, there's no medicine that can cure this disease by himself. tamiflu and some other, can do some damage, but cant exterminate it. (i know i am an idiot, u guys are the wisdom owners congratz.)

don't really know where your information comes from but you should pull his hair a bit..
the *ordinary* flu kills between 1000-3000 people worldwide EVERY year..
try reading about it...
this swineflu is just created as a epidemic.. nothing worse than a ordinary flu.

medicine companies can now push more poison in people's bodies in the name of H1N1 vaccines. They will make money by feeding us fear and then providing placebos in the name of vaccines.
