BIG advance to DreamHack Open November final after defeating forZe

The Russians' adventure at the last DreamHack event ends in the semi-finals.

Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz's men have earned themselves a ticket to the finals of DreamHack Open: November 2021 after defeating FORZE 2-1. The series saw the Russians take a hard-fought Inferno 19-16 early in the series before BIG showed their excellence on Dust2 and Nuke with two solid offensive halves. Florian "syrsoN" Rische was in great form today, finding consistent impact with his AWP and winning a few clutches along the way.

BIG will play against fnatic in the grand finals on Sunday at 16:00 . Alex "ALEX" McMeekin's squad come into the final after their 2-0 victory over MAD Lions earlier today with three of the top-5 highest performing players at the event.

syrsoN led the way for BIG with a 1.23 rating

Aleksandr "zorte" Zagodyrenko opened up Inferno with a sublime 1v4 clutch in the pistol round before his team began building a 6-1 lead on the offense that had spectators believe FORZE has stolen the half. Not looking to go away quietly, syrsoN started delivering frag after frag to lift a wounded BIG to an eight-round winning streak, ending the half 9-6 in favor of the Germans.

A force buy conversion from the Russians in the second half opened up the doors for the defenders to stay competitive and equalize 10-10. Aleksandr "KENSI" Gurkin was the shining light for FORZE, outperforming everyone on the server and pulling several multi-kill rounds to force overtime. BIG only converted one round in outside of regulation as FORZE was finally able to close their map pick 19-16.

The Germans' mastery of the Dust2 was evident in their T half, consistently cracking open bombsites as syrsoN carried his great form into the second map, ending with a 16-6 K-D after his team's 10-5 offensive campaign. tabseN shined after switching sides, keeping his team's CT side steady as BIG made their way through the entire map without ever facing a round deficit before closing 16-10.

zorte gave his team the early advantage on Nuke with another fabulous 4k in the pistol round but BIG were quick to answer back. Quick pushes into the sites by the Germans startled FORZE, forcing them to just give up rounds and save on several occasions. The Russians were able to salvage the half before moving to the T side, only trailing 7-8. BIG only dropped one round after moving to the CT side, shutting down any attempts of a FORZE comeback on their way to take Nuke 16-8 and the series 2-1.

Not that it matters for either team but the winner of this event should have been getting a direct spot in the EPL instead of just a spot in the Conference to battle it out for the main event again. Some great T1-1.5 teams were part of this event and the winner should have been awarded accordingly. who will get the conference spot though ? both BIG and FNATIC are already in the main stage.

Wait they changed 3rd place to ESL Pro League Season 15 Conference and $10,000 so now 1 and 2nd spot doesn't matter they only get money and they're already in ESL Pro League Season 15 now it makes sense.

yep , i was contemplating about it and it did happen. There was no 3rd place decider before but it makes sense to have one now. Good on dreamhack.

if both Fnatic and BIG take it up to the authorities, maybe they do change the format for it. IIRC , the last CIS RMR was also a BO5 which was then changed to a BO3 since it was aimless to play it as both Gambit and NaVI were qualified as Legends. Kinda similar situation here./

I mean it is far fairer than to use ranking. That is an issue you find with any tournament that has partner teams. Blast has the same issue with Navi who have actually won their place at BLast Finals twice and they can win it a third time with Blast fall finals..

he was given an ultimatum to not to awp and he didnt like that so he was benched, they brough him back but the lineup wasnt doin shite and so they finally got syrson instead who they were meant to buy in the first place while smooya was pretty much just the b option for them
