sdy & magixx win Red Bull Flick 2vs2 Helsinki invitational

The Russian-Ukrainian duo came out on top in a championship Sunday filled with amateur teams.

The Red Bull Flick 2vs2 Helsinki Invitational, a pro-am event put together by the Austrian energy drink company and produced by BLAST, ended up with sdy & magixx winning the title after all other professional teams were knocked out of competition during the first day of play in Finland.

The professional teams made up of G2’s Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač, FURIA’s Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and Yuri "yuurih" Santos, OG’s Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså and Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, ENCE’s Paweł "dycha" Dycha and Joonas "doto" Forss, as well as BIG Academy’s Nico "Aqua" Kembitzky and Alexander "glaVed" Pletz, were all eliminated on Saturday, unable to make it out of the Swiss group stage and into the playoffs.

sdy & magixx won being the only pros to make the final day

As the only two pros left standing, Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev and Boris "magixx" Vorobiev fought their way through a field of amateur players, including Nexus’ 16-year-old Laurențiu "lauNX" Țârlea, although the young Romanian and his teammate Bogdan "CHANKY" Șerban were eliminated in the first round of the lower bracket.

Meanwhile, the upper bracket was being lit on fire by local duo Puteli & blaze, who knocked Spirit’s Russian-Ukrainian duo down to the lower bracket, and securing a spot in the final.

sdy & magixx didn't fret and made it out of the lower bracket alive, beating raks0n & mati in the consolidation final to set up a grand final grudge match against the local boys.

The grand final, as all matches, was played in Red Bull’s capture the point game mode on custom maps, and it went all the way to the decider after both sdy & magixx as well as Puteli & blaze won their picks. After two rounds on the final map it was the CIS duo who took charge in the finishing moments, dominating their rivals to secure the $22,570 grand prize.

The Red Bull 2vs2 Helsinki invitational's top 8 teams and their prizes are:

1. World sdy & magixx - $22,570
2. Finland Puteli & blaze - $14,670
3. Poland raks0n & mati - $7,900
4. Turkey Alpar & Jaex - $4,514
5-6. Portugal drext & Frozzen - $2,257
5-6. Poland Yamii & Zireael - $2,257
7-8. Romania lauNX & CHANKY - $1,128
7-8. Ukraine m1koo24 & HELLKISSS - $1,128

Certus was the biggest problem of Spirit. I'm not surprised that chopper couldn't improve as an IGL while having a 50 yo drug addict as a coach. I wish they kicked him but yeah I can't turn the clock back.

for non-professional gamblers, this is a lot of money, especially received with the help of a favorite activity. these tournaments for non-professional players are an incentive to improve, play in good teams and make money.
