Vitality send Astralis to lower semi-finals after close series
A comeback on Inferno confirmed a French victory.
Vitality secured their spot in the upper bracket final at BLAST Premier Fall Final after defeating Astralis 2-1. Dan "apEX" Madesclaire's boys claimed a very competitive Nuke 22-18 to start the series before the Danes answered on Dust2 16-14. Vitality were able to seal the deal on Inferno 16-11 following an incredible performance from Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut across the series.
The French squad earned a top-four finish at the event and is set to challenge Natus Vincere in an attempt to secure a spot in the grand finals. Astralis meanwhile move down to the lower semis and will face the winner of BIG vs FaZe on Friday at 19:30 .

Vitality showed us a solid defensive display on Nuke, going toe-to-toe with Astralis in a half that saw apEX roll back the years to support ZywOo in their efforts to contain the Danish advance. The French successfully strung together five rounds in a row before switching sides ahead 9-6.
The second half started with a little chaos. Vitality won the pistol and set themselves for a push on the A bombsite before a Benjamin "blameF" Bremer Deagle ace put an end to that, starting a force buy back-and-forth between the two teams. The awkward round exchange ended with Astralis going on a brief winning streak to retake the lead but it wasn't to last. Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's team conceded map point and had to win another force buy just before clinching overtime. The first cycle of extra time was not enough to find a winner and the two squads moved into a second set. After a flawless CT side, the French squad was able to convert a post plant on B to close overtime and steal Astralis' pick 22-18.
The new Astralis burst into their Dust2 debut with incredible force as a red-hot Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke tormented the French with both the rifle and AWP to power his team to a ten-round winning streak. apEX and co. managed to salvage the half at the very end with five in a row before switching sides at 5-10.
The French brought over their momentum from the end of the first half, slowly reducing the deficit before taking the lead at 12-11 after stopping a late A push by Astralis. Despite ZywOo's best efforts on the CT side, the Danes stayed focused and eventually clinched the map 16-14 after a short winning streak.
An early Danish streak on Inferno saw Philip "Lucky" Ewald and k0nfig barricade the A bombsite as the 18-year old temporarily shined in his new role with the rifle. A 0-6 disadvantage was not enough to break the Vitality spirit as they were able to make a half out of it with sporadic round wins before locking a 6-9 T side. It was Richard "shox" Papillon's time to pull a vintage performance on the CT side, winning a crucial 1v2 clutch on round 25, opening the doors for his team to close the decider 16-11 add the series 2-1.
