K23 win Pinnacle Winter Series 1

The Russian squad secured a spot at the LAN Sweet LAN tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Pinnacle Winter Series 1 has come to an end with K23 coming out victorious in the grand final, defeating the recently formed Apeks to take the $40,000 lion's share of the prize pool and securing a spot at LAN Sweet LAN 2022.

The final match came after a wild playoff in which the favorites were knocked out in the quarter-finals, as FURIA, HEROIC, fnatic and Eternal Fire were all eliminated at that point. In the semi-finals it was K23 and Apeks who made it all the way, leaving Copenhagen Flames and Wisla Krakow in their wakes.

xsepower and co. keep turning heads in the second tier

The grand final itself started off on Ancient, Apeks' map pick, but a strong CT side start by the Russian squad with a 10-5 half put the pressure on the international team, who weren't able to retaliate on their turn defending and lost their map 10-16.

Martin "STYKO" Styk and company were then did the same exact thing they suffered in the first map, and took it to K23 on their pick, Nuke, winning the CT side 12-3. The Russians attempted a comeback on their own defense, but to no avail as Apeks brought the series even with a 16-12 victory.

Everything came down to Overpass, where the CT side once again ruled as K23 went up 11-4 on the defense. The switch put Apeks on the defense and a comeback attempt ensued, but having dropped the three first rounds of the half it was finally the Russians who were able to cross the finish line, 16-11, to secure victory.

I dont want to say that neither zorte or xsepower is better, I dont know them very well I dont follow those team, Im simply reacting to your comparision. You compared them with their stats from 2022. Now if we look at how many maps they played, you will see that xsepower played 3x more maps this year, with zorte only having 12 maps in the record where he played well, but thats still not comparable to xsepower because thats just not enough data to do good comparision, we will have to was at least 3 months to see how well they do

yeah, I just showed 2022 because the pinnacle cup is in 2022, couldnt sort out specific time. 3 months and 2021 filter prove that xsepower is worse anyway

well, did you take in accout what roles these players play / rank and skill of the enemies / how many games did they actually win (because sometimes you can have better stats then your enemy but you still have much bigget lose rate) if you didnt include any of these things in your comparision, and you just simply went with the rating, than you dont really have any arguments to say that X is better than Y, also i dont really like xsepower so Im not defending him, just pointing things out, sometimes its hard to compare players in lower tiers

Top 5 is difficult. Navi, Gambit, Valitality, G2, Faze - who do you think K23 can beat regularly? Top 10 is realistic though. Bottom is top 10 is not too strong and rotates frequently.

Teams that make it through the Regional Swiss get $1,000 each and teams who make it through Main Swiss get $2,000 each EDIT: correction - it's $2,000 for Regional Swiss, $3,000 for Main Swiss and an extra $1,000 for winning the first round of play-offs Apeks and Wisla both also got some money as a result but it wasn't listed in the article

Prize money is done a little bit differently here. You get $2,000 for making it through Regional Swiss, $3,000 for making it through Main Swiss and $1,000 for winning first round of play-offs. Then the winner gets $40k. Only one team can win the event, but the smaller teams that fought their way from the beginning get some consolation prizes (while the invited teams that lost get nothing). But some of them will probably get invited to the next tournament too.
2022-02-02 23:12

Only 1st place gets "Prize pool money". Teams 2nd-12th get money based on how deep they got in the tournament. Apeks definitely got several thousand because they started in Swiss Stage. Heroic, for example, started and ended in Playoffs, so they got 0$

The prize distribution is so bad dude, like cmon Apeks came 2nd all the way from the Swiss stage and they get just 4000$ while Winner gets 10 times the amount? Shouldn't be this much of discrepancy. Imo 2nd should get atleast 15k$
