Sprout replace TYLOO at IEM Katowice
COVID-19 regulations prevented the Chinese team from traveling to Poland.
Sprout will participate in the play-in stage of IEM Katowice 2022, filling the void left by TYLOO. The Chinese organization had to withdraw from the event due to current restrictions around COVID-19 after qualifying for the tournament through Road To Katowice Asia.
Both Spirit and FORZE were offered invites based on ESL's replacement rules, but visa issues prevented them from participating in the event. In the end, it was Sprout's position on the ESL Pro Tour standings that earned them a ticket to Poland.
Sprout will join 15 other invited teams in the Play-In stage, looking to challenge for one of the eight spots leading to the main stage of the coveted tournament.
We last saw TYLOO competing in Europe during IEM Winter 2021, where the Chinese squad finished in a disappointing 13th-16th place. Since then, the team saw some changes with the return of old captain Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand, coming back to TYLOO after spending two years in Europe and North America.
IEM Katowice's Play-In stage will begin on Tuesday, February 15. The current list of teams attending the tournament is:
