CSPromod nears Beta 1.04

The developing team behind CSPromod have disclosed further info on the upcoming Beta 1.04.

Since the release of the new website last month, the CSpromod developing team have been very busy making some final adjustments as they plan to make Beta 1.04 available to public possibly before the end of the year.

Alex "chibsquad" Garfield, mentor of the project, has now indicated that, gameplay-wise, the current version is almost ready for a release.

"Thanks to countless hours of play time on the part of our beta testing team, and much tweaking by mizzack and doublethink, we feel very good about the feel of the game; its gun behavior, movement, interface, and other mechanics are all (while not perfect) certainly release-worthy at this point," Garfield said.

Garfield added his team are currently working on the issue of player models and animations as they aim to recreate a CS 1.6-like feeling. While the custom, resized player models, are completed, the animations are not yet finished, and it is possible that Beta 1.04 could be released without the 1.6-like animations if they take long to be created.

Moreover, it has been announced that not only the competitive maps (csp_dust2, csp_inferno, csp_nuke, csp_season, and csp_train) have been completed, but the CSP developing team have also begun work on five aim maps, which you can find below:

csp_aim_arena: A complete remake/reimagination of aim_ak_map, designed to act as practice yard for any buyable weapon (not including grenades and the AWP).
csp_aim_pistol: Another original CSPromod aim map, created specifically for pistol training.
csp_aim_map: A CSPromod remake of the community-favorite aim_map from CS 1.6.
csp_aim_akcolt: A CSPromod remake of the long beloved aim_ak-colt from CS 1.6.
csp_aim_awp: Another original CSPromod aim map, created specifically for AWP practice.

You can find screenshots of csp_aim_arena on the official CSPromod website. Stay tuned to HLTV.org for more info on this mod.

bullshit, that's a completely different context. 1.6 basically is the same game with some modifications. Promod looks nothing like 1.6, this won't happen.

Looks good I'll give it that. But I would like to hear from pros how the game is :\ like they would take it for kind of a "testdrive". If they can't then I would like to hear from the community itself if the gameplay actually resembles 1.6, and if it doesn't...back to the drawing board.

yeah and selling more Source games means more money. they hope for 1.6 players to switch to Source and get Promod, that's why it's supposed to be like Source and 1.6 at the same time. 1.6 feel, Source look, pure marketing.

Better for tournaments, money and investors. CGS knew that CS:S would attract more people that are unaware of the eSports scene just because CS:S looks better on screen. CSPromod would be awesome if it truly has the 1.6 feel and gameplay, but we'll see...

The whole idea of CSP is just outright dumb. But maybe they'll understand that when the game dies within a week of everyone realizing what garbage it is. We don't need hardware sponsors to keep CS afloat. StarCraft is as old as CS and you don't see them needing hardware sponsors. They found creative ways to get sponsors that are not directly related to the games themselves or hardware of any kind. And thats why this whole CSP garbage needs to be put to an end. It is a useless, fairytale idea of uniting both CS and the CS:S scenes. All it will do is create a greater split in the community and make the death of CS all the quicker.

they have sponsors because 3/4 of the youth population think the players are rockstars and so has a much wider audience (possible consumers) than in our countries. In most countries gaming is still frowned upon if you know what I'm saying.

Because they ARE rockstars. They MADE it that way. They get paid in the 5 and 6 figures. They get fame. They get a lot of what rockstars do have. And theres no reason other places in the world can't either.

This is dumb, has been for years. Waste of time and it will never go anywhere so there is nothing to worry about. Also, isn't there some copyright infringements going on here? They are creating a game with the framework of 1.6. Maybe its just me but I don't think Valve will appreciate them trying to introduce it and getting it into major tournaments, it's not like making a new map.

if you want make a good game, you need only changue the graphics to source. so dont create new animations, skins, models, aim, flashbacks or other source things.

it aint as easy as you might think. The games were built using different engines. So you can't just re-use that code. The reason they're making "new" models and such is that they are not implemented in the source engine (or w/e). So to give you - the 1.6 players - the feel of you're favourite game, they're creating models that look like the 1.6 models, animations (HS animation for example) like the 1.6 animations. You're comment didn't make any sense whatsoever because they ARE making 1.6 with better graphics...

Majority of the people in here are very ignorant. This game a the potential to revive cs. 1.6 is on its way out, its harder and harder to find sponsors willing to sponsor such a graphically outdated game. Most of you wouldn't know this because you don't go the sponsors asking for money. Alex Garfield does. There's a reason the CS prize purse in tournies is growing less and less. Atleast give the game a shot before you bad mouth it. What would you have to lose if it plays like 1.6 with better graphics? Nothing.

What I love about CSP so far is #1 - How you can see the money / hp of team mates #2 - Cooler interface HP/Armor/Nades/Ammo #3 - How alike CSP is to CS 1.6 with flashes/smokes/nades/maps just the whole feeling to the game. There are a few things I dislike with the game still, but im sure they will be fixed in the official release. I wont QQ over this game for one simple reason. I am tired of watching CS 1.6 bleed to death, I am tired of sitting on IRC trying to find a game for up to an hour. If this is the solution for me to play active again then so be it. And yes I am aware that the game may become a complete flop and die after a few weeks prolly taking CS 1.6 with it. But they said the same thing about CSS and it blossomed.

CSP dieing will not take CS with it. Thats wishful thinking that the developers of CSP have. They see it as a fool-proof plan, but they're the fools. Irony is amazing.

The only amazing thing around here is your "knowledge". What if the creators of CSP do not want to take CS down? imo, they are simply offering another CS-Mod, and we should actually be grateful, at least the ones constantly crying for a Cs 1.6 with better graphics. As it has been said before, you cannot just repaint de_nuke, you have to code onto the source engine by yourself...

Graphics don't make the game. Starcraft is one of the most successful games in terms of professionalism in E-sports history and its as old as CS with little to no visual appeal whatsoever.

Those 'people' are the types of players that were never going to be competitive gamers anyways. I know I didn't start playing Half-Life because of the 'graphics'. I started playing Half-Life because I had played the demo, Half-Life: Uplink at least 100 times and loved the gameplay. The graphics were as goofy as could be but I still loved the game. And on that subject, the pub scrubs that do play games for nothing more than their graphics will never even have a way of hearing about CSP in the first place. Its too underground and even the best advertising campaign at a mainstream level would more than likely have little to no impact on its succses. Just look at the money put into L4D 2 advertisement and look at how that is appreciated (very little). The North American CS scene is already long gone. Its a shadow of its former self and will more than likely not rise again (due to the direction the community is innveitably heading in). But as for European CS I have seen little to no decrease in events in Europe or Asia. CS is still one of the most widely used games in major tournaments and there is no reason to ruin whatever is left of CS in the world with some crappy doupleganger which had no business being introduced into the E-sports industry in the first place. I hope CSP crashes and burns so that the fire that erupts from the failure will shed just enough light on the real issues with this community as so they can perhaps be fixed. But I guess thats extremely wishful thinking in terms of America. Americans care for nothing more than for instant gratification. If they had to choose between playing a CS match for $20,000 that could revitalize the interest of CS worldwide, and getting laid, most Americans would go with the latter. They don't care for others, nor the community. They care for themselves, and their immeadiate own interests. In such an environment, you would never get support for CSP anyways in America. So CSP is just a wishful dream.

Impossible. The UK Scene is pretty much inactive, almost every Scandinavian country whines if they go above 10 ping. Basically where we search for games is in France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, UK. All of these are pretty inactive. :( Our servers are always located in UK(Which is stupid I know) P.S. I am not from Denmark as my flag indicates.

Quake3 looked to be dying because of it's aging graphics but look now... Quake-Live is a direct port of Q3 to browser and it's outplaying Quake4 (the arguably better looking game) by a shit-ton. Fair enough, it's free, but it's also a better game (just like 1.6 > source)

I think that will be the same situation like HoN and DotA, CSPromod will reduce the number of cs1.6 players but it won`t die. Personally I played CSPromod beta 1.03 and it looks good, its more realistic and it has good features, try it just once and you won`t be dissapointed. :P

People will just have to at least try it out, and THEN decide if it's good or bad. We can't have people deciding for themselves that it's a bad game before they even tried it and never giving it a chance at all. But that's just me.

if the game runs as well as it's predicted, then the pros may very well fall in love with it. once that happens, every single one of you haters will have it installed on your computers, you just don't know it yet. don't go along with the masses, just admit that if it's as good as they plan on it being, that you're going to try it out.

excuse my retarded american friend here. Promod is gonna be a game killer if it comes out. The europeans are gonna stick with 1.6 and us retarded americans are gonna divide again just like 1.6 and Source. We will eventually come back to 1.6 but its gonna deal a huge blow to the gaming community that wont be healed, just like CGS... Luckily for us its gonna be another like 15 years before they release it lol.

someone posted a comment with starcraft imo it's a shitty comparison, you can talk about SC scene after SC2 comes out :P my advice - wait patiently, dunno if it's csp, but the newer better CS will come out some day. It will be just like with CoD4, when after CoD2&3 noone believed that any cod will be more popular than vcod.
