Strife win Fragadelphia 16 over Apeks Rebels

The fully-North American squad took down the Norwegian academy side to claim the title.

After three long days of play, the 16th edition of Fragadelphia has finally come to a close, with Strife emerging victorious after defeating Apeks Rebels in the final 2-0. The Bobby "⁠stamina⁠" Eitrem-led side had a grueling playoff bracket, and were the only team that had all of their playoff matches go to three maps, defeating both Carpe Diem and TeamOne.

Coming into the tournament as a high seed, Strife were able to start directly in the second group stage. There, they easily took down both Apeks Legends and Touch Point to advance to the playoffs.

SLIGHT stepped up big time against the European opposition

After battling through a grueling series against Carpe Diem and a back-and-forth battle against the Brazilian TeamOne, Strife arrived in the grand final as the only North American team to make top four at the event.

On the other side, Apeks Rebels had to play in the Last Chance Qualifier as a result of not having any circuit points. After that, they were put into the first group stage, where they were able to pick up two quick victories over Apeks Legends and Kinship to move on.

The second group stage proved a bit more difficult as the Norwegians faced off against Carpe Diem, the second-highest ranked team at the event. Despite dropping a map, Apeks Rebels were still able to achieve victory and move on to the playoffs.

They had a much easier route in the playoffs, sweeping both series against Touch Point and ATK. Coming into the final, it looked as if it would be business as usual for the European squad as they looked to claim a swift victory, but Keller "⁠SLIGHT⁠" Nilan and company had their own plans.

Despite the previous dominance of Apeks Rebels throughout the tournament, Strife were able to decisively control both maps in the final, and picked up a convincing 2-0 victory, winning the first place prize of $24,000.
