The European squad surpassed G2 two weeks after beating them at IEM Katowice.

The ranking update on March 14 sees FaZe reach the third spot in the world, marking the first time the team's new core has reached such heights. The international lineup managed the feat thanks to their surprising run to the title at IEM Katowice, where they took down G2 in a nail-biting grand final.

It is exactly Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and co. that dropped out of the top 3 after a two-week stint, as their second-place finish in Poland was followed up by a disappointing ESL Pro League campaign where they mustered just two wins.

FaZe's current core reached a new peak

FaZe's climb up to no. 3 in the ranking sees them match their best placing since 2020, when the squad still featured NiKo, Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David, and Aurimas "⁠Bymas⁠" Pipiras. Aside from that two-week period, you would have to go back to 2018 to find the last time FaZe were in the top 3.

Other notable movements this week include Entropiq (#9) and fnatic (#13) climbing three spots after clinching playoff spots at ESL Pro League, while Vitality (#8) dropped three spots in the aftermath of a disastrous IEM Katowice, coupled with inactivity. im a g2 fan, but g2 is playing like trash now. gambit plays trash only on the arena in front of the crowd. otherwise, gambit is a much better team any day. And there is nothing called deserved or undesrved team, if u have the results u'll be high on the board. Gambit has had good results on lan. u see faze winning 1 tournament and ur over estimating faze. faze and other teams can only beat gambit in front of the crowd.

I know last year the pro league flop was the start of an absolutely massive slump that didn’t really recover until the major, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen again this time. Only player worse they could’ve lost besides Aleksi was NiKo. Yeah, they kinda choked vs. Entropiq, but at least they have the excuse of Aleksi coming back into the fold and Entropiq being a quality up and coming team with excellent potential. They should be fine going into the RMR. If they fail that though, then there’s problems.

Somehow I dont see G2 falling that hard again, honestly they HAVE to qualify but now with like at least 30 days before RMR they should just fix the mistake and should qualify tbh

obviously. if they fail the RMR without any covid/other issues, that's when the alarm needs to be sounded. even then, what do you do? sure, you can try replacing jackz, but that is far from easy. nobody remembers this, but hunter was ELATED to have jackz back when kenny was kicked and was very vocal about it. his stats improved immediately. I don't know why. maybe it's that he creates the "right" space for hunter based on hunter's style. just a wild shot in the dark though. who am I to know, I'm not a professional.
