Liquid secure second win at ESL Pro League over GODSENT

The North American side are now tied with Movistar Riders atop of Group C with a 2-0 record.

Liquid secure a second win in ESL Pro League Group C, this time beating Brazilian team GODSENT in a 2-0 sweep. They came out of the first map all guns blazing, taking a commanding 16-4 win before securing their own map pick of Dust2 16-6.

Nick "nitr0" Cannella and his squad started the new EPL season brilliantly, taking 2-0 sweeps in both of their first two matches. After a rocky start to the new year with a fresh roster, the early success in the EPL group stage will undoubtedly boost their morale as the team face off next against fellow two-win team Movistar Riders.

The loss for GODSENT meant that they now have a 0-2 record in their first two group stage matches, making it extremely challenging for them to reach the tournament's playoff stage especially since they are still yet to face both BIG and Players in their upcoming matches.

nitr0 and his squad have shown great success early in the competition

The best-of-3 series began on GODSENT's map pick of Ancient. Their opponents, Liquid, took the pistol round off the back of an incredible 4-kill round from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski. Both sides kept it close in the first five rounds with a scoreline of 3-2 in favor of the North Americans. After this, Liquid soon began to pull away from their Brazilian rivals with exceptional teamwork and solid individual performances from EliGE and Josh "oSee" Ohm, posting 17 and 15 kills respectively by halftime where their team led 11-4.

The second pistol round went just like the first one did, in favor of Liquid, after Keith "NAF" Markovic stopped the bomb from being defused by using Epitacio "TACO" de Melo, who was defusing, as a shield while managing to secure 2 round-securing kills. After losing the pistols, GODSENT were unable to overcome their economic struggles playing on the defensive, which allowed their North American opponents to cruise to victory on the first map, winning five straight rounds en route to a 16-4 win. Throughout the first game, oSee put up an impressive 21-7 K-D and a 1.76 match rating, ending with an ADR of 101.3.

Liquid's map pick of Dust2 saw GODSENT take their first lead in the entire series, taking the scoreline 2-4 in their favor, winning 4 rounds in a row after excellent utility usage and coordination secured wins for them. Liquid then went on a run, winning eight out of the next nine rounds to secure the first half 10-5 in their favor, with EliGE once again entering halftime as the player with the most kills on the server with 16 to his name. After switching sides, Liquid made it a perfect four out of four pistol round wins in the series and showcased a strong defensive side, winning the map 16-6 and taking the series in a 2-0 sweep.

I'm glad Liquid are showing promise but I'm holding my breath before I pass judgement. Movistar look good so far, so that'll be the biggest test. The Players match will almost certainly not matter if Liquid win tomorrow.

The match against Players will matter bc if TL win against Movistar and lost to Players, probably all of them will finish with 4W-1L. Movistar > Players > Liquid > Movistars So Liquid is far away from top1 in group, they need to win both matches

Top 3 go through to playoffs. Outside of seeding it doesn't matter too much, though Top 1 is arguably important. My primary point is on paper their hardest match is the last one, which dramatically removes pressure if they beat Movistar.

Yea. It's good they are 2-0 as that means they will more than likely advance, but I'll wait until they play better teams to say they are legit.

Please people stop saying TL is looking promising. They beat dead Godsent and BIG who struggled to qualify for EU RMR. TL is good, but top15-20 only, nothing besides that.

Honestly saying "liquid started off brilliantly" is just not right. They should beat any team in this group 2-0 except maybe for Gambit. Saying its an achievement to win 2-0 against a broken godsent and a party astronauts that is tier 3/4 at best is just stupid
