Astralis beat AGO to go 2-1 in the group

The Danish side got their second victory of the group stage against the Poles of AGO.

Astralis, no doubt fired up after yesterday's marathon loss to HEROIC, managed to avoid the upset and comfortably beat AGO in a 2-0 victory, first prevailing with a 16-13 win on their opponents' pick of Mirage and then finishing the job on Nuke with a 16-9 scoreline.

The result now means that Astralis are now sitting on a solid 2-1 record, with games against Natus Vincere and Complexity still awaiting them in the group stage in the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

gla1ve's troops are in a good position ahead of the final two rounds

Meanwhile, AGO's chances continue to shrink with this loss ahead of games against HEROIC and Evil Geniuses in the next two days. To have a chance of progressing, they would most likely need to win both games — a tough ask, albeit the Poles have shown that they can keep up with the best teams at times so far.

The series got started on Mirage, where AGO failed to get the most out of their map pick despite Maciej "F1KU" Miklas’s heroics. The Poles lost the pistol round which Astralis converted to a 3-0 start. But once AGO got the rifles out they won two rounds in a row, breaking the Astralis economy. They didn’t take advantage of Astralis’s broken buy, as they all fell to Asger "Farlig" Jensen’s saved AWP and Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke’s picked up AK-47. The Danish CT side picked up steam after that, shutting out their opponents and winning the half with a very convincing 11-4 score.

The second half started with Damian "Furlan" Kislowski’s boys winning the pistol round and both teams trading rounds back and forth as AGO mounted a good comeback attempt, until eventually Astralis closed out the map 16-13 with the help of Benjamin "blameF" Bremer’s 29 kills.

Nuke was the second battleground, with Astralis starting on the offence this time. AGO wasted no time in taking advantage of the preferred side on the map, as they swiftly took a 6-0 lead before the Danes were able to strike back. Once they got used to the playstile of their opponents, they quickly started to dominate the following rounds which meant the half finished 8-7 in the favour of AGO.

After the switch of sides the game went the way of expectations with Astralis winning the pistol round and never looking back, as they closed out the map and the game without the problems they faced against HEROIC and in the first map of this series.
