Heroic defeat Evil Geniuses to remove them from playoffs contention

The North American squad is now unable to claim a top-three spot in Group D.

HEROIC are one step away from locking in a spot in the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 15 after defeating Evil Geniuses 2-0, earning a 3-0 record in their group. The Danes easily took the lead in the series after a 16-6 game on Inferno before securing the victory on their pick of Nuke 16-12.

Although not yet qualified for the playoffs, Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and co. are in a great spot to advance to the next stage with three wins to their name already, with matches against AGO and Natus Vincere still to go in the final two rounds.

The 0-2 defeat against the Danes together with their 0-3 record puts Evil Geniuses out of playoffs contention, meaning they will be playing for pride in their last two games against Complexity and AGO.

refrezh was the star of the show against Evil Geniuses

It was a nightmare start for Evil Geniuses on their pick of Inferno, immediately going 0-6 behind as HEROIC's defense effortlessly kept the North American squad out of their bombsites. Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali was simply flawless on the CT side, cool under pressure, the Dane ended the first half with a 25-7 K-D and a 2.40 rating. The few rounds that Evil Geniuses got during their offensive half were earned either by an unsuccessful CT stack by HEROIC or an individual from the offense single-handedly taking matters into their own hand, such as Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta on round 13. The North American squad would walk into the second half trailing 2-13 behind the Danes.

HEROIC converted the second pistol and the two following rounds, quickly claiming map point at 15-3. With their back against the wall, Evil Geniuses responded with three solid defensive rounds, but it was not enough to put them back in contention. The Danes finally closed the map 16-6 with a few upgraded pistols on the B site.

Evil Geniuses came into Nuke in much better form, taking the opening pistol before gathering a solid 5-0 lead in the early stages of their CT side. It took a few rounds for the Danes to get into gear, slowly catching up to the North Americans as refrezh and Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund spearheaded the HEROIC offense. Despite their initial success, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip's boys struggled to maintain their advantage, conceding the first half 7-8.

Another pistol round conversion allowed Evil Geniuses to reclaim a slight lead at 10-9 and keep the map competitive, but it did not take long for their opponents to retake full control of the game. HEROIC grabbed eight of the following ten rounds to take their map pick home 16-12, ending the series with a swift 2-0.

I have to agree. EG looks like a tier 3 team and i cant even watch their matches. Pretty obvious this lineup is never going to work and they need to start making changes ASAP.

unfortunately there are a number of people who justify EG performance by the fact that they're "entertaining personalities" just like the brazilians will defend imperial for their bad performances just because people want to see how the major champions play together one last time before they retire, but what triggers me is that these players get paid by playing very badly.
