ropz: "I can't wait to play more tournaments and keep the wins coming"

After picking up the HLTV x BitSkins MVP, Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool took a moment to give some insight on the ESL Pro League win.

FaZe continued a blistering start to the year here in Düsseldorf by making it back-to-back big event wins, this time conquering ESL Pro League Season 15.

After topping the scoreboards to carry his team to victory in the final, ropz took a quick break from celebrations to chat to HLTV about the grand final win over ENCE.

Congratulations! First things first, how does it feel to win a big event with the full lineup?

It’s just very fulfilling (smiles). We’ve only been together for four months with this team, so it’s actually a crazy run we’ve done so far, I’m extremely proud and happy.

Everyone is so good in this team and I think it just shows (laughs). The sky is the limit for us, I just can’t wait to play more tournaments and keep the wins coming.

karrigan did say you had something interesting for the veto, and he wasn’t lying! Why did you let Vertigo through?

Yeah it was interesting, because yesterday I actually told you that we don’t really play Vertigo well, but after the interview I went to the practice room and karrigan is looking at us like ‘here is the plan boys!’ (laughs). So that was the plan, we didn’t ban Vertigo and we gave them the first pick intentionally. We wanted them to pick it so we get Vertigo out of the way, win or lose, and then we have four maps left that we play well, but we actually managed to close out Vertigo pretty confidently.

Overpass must have been a tough loss, getting it to overtime but not quite closing it out. What were the feelings in the camp after that one?

Overpass was actually quite… it was maybe the worst map that we’ve played so far, we didn’t really play good as a team on the map. We were pretty unsatisfied with some things, we missed some nades and we did some pretty bad communication at some points.

I think the match we played on Overpass was pretty similar to the one in the group stage, I think hades actually won like five clutches, so it was pretty similar to the groups. We definitely had our chances, maybe if he doesn’t win one of those clutches we close out the map, right? They played well on Overpass, well played to them, but I am glad we came back from this.

Last question as I am sure you want to go and celebrate with your team; can you guys win the Major?

Yeah, of course we can win the Major (smiles).

The RMR is just next week, so all the focus is on that, we have to take it step by step and we’re not getting too ahead of ourselves. I think we all know what the goal is in this team, and we are ready to take it on.
