BnTeT: "The plan is to spend more time in Europe than Asia in the future"

Hansel "⁠BnTeT⁠" Ferdinand hopes TYLOO will be able to qualify for the Major despite him not having much experience with the team yet.

TYLOO were upset in the opening round of the four-team Asia RMR by IHC, and are now waiting for a rival in the consolidation final after taking out Looking For Org in the first lower bracket match.

The Chinese squad, up against the ropes, will therefore either have a chance at taking revenge on IHC, or BnTeT will play former EXTREMUM teammate Jay "⁠Liazz⁠" Tregillgas for the final spot in the Major.

After their second match of the day, BnTeT talked about adjusting to TYLOO, as well as their future plans, which include spending a month in Europe in the short term, right after the RMR, and further plans of spending more time in Europe to maximize practice and help them gain more experience.

It was a surprise for a lot of people that you lost to IHC in the opener, what did you expect going into the match?

IHC is one of the strongest teams in Asia, we know them pretty well. Before this event we fought them online twice and we won, but I knew that they're pretty sharp and they have young players that are really skilled and they play pretty good as a team. We were aware of that, but we made many mistakes and that cost us in the first game.

You say you guys were making mistakes, why did that happen. Were there some nerves?

This TYLOO is a new team with me joining as their fifth. We haven't seen each other before this event, I play from my home in Indonesia so I've never seen SLOWLY and DANK1NG before. It's a really new, fresh team, but I'm confident that we'll be better tomorrow and hopefully we'll be able to qualify.

For you, it's a return to TYLOO, but of course with new guys. How does this team compare to the one before?

The previous TYLOO had more experience, with this lineup we need more experience. We have skilled players, SLOWLY and DANK1NG are pretty sharp as young players, but we just need more experience as a team, together, practicing on LAN, playing LAN events, more online and LAN tournaments. We just need more time, more experience, and I think we'll be good.

How's the communication? Last time you were on TYLOO you had English, Chinese and Indonesian. How is it now?

I know pretty much what's going on when they speak Chinese even though I still speak a mix of English and Chinese. Sometimes the team gets chaotic in some rounds and even the Chinese guys don't have 100% perfect communication. It also happens to me sometimes, in some situations we just need to be more calm.

Tell me about the time you spent abroad with Gen.G and then with the Aussie guys. What was it like to play on these teams?

I gained a lot of experience as a player. I have many ways of seeing CS now, not just my point of view before I joined them. I learned more English, as well, and became a more versatile player than I was before because when I played in Gen.G and EXTREMUM I tried the anchor role. So now I can anchor, I can rotate, I can be entry, I've learned a lot of roles in those two teams and gained a lot of experience, which I'm thankful for.

So you've been playing from Indonesia, is it easy or are there some problems?

The main problem is pingwise, when we play online tournaments we play through Hong Kong servers and I have 50 or 60 ping, which isn't an excuse, but it's pretty laggy. I need to find a better solution for that, it's the main issue because of the server location. Maybe in the future there are more servers.

Now that you're back in Asia with TYLOO, how's the scene there? I know a lot of players in Southeast Asia went to VALORANT.

A lot of teams from Thailand and Singapore went to VALORANT because the CS:GO scene in Asia is going down. I understand their decision, even in China there aren't many online tournaments happening compared to 2017, when I first joined TYLOO. So yeah, the scene in Asia is pretty down right now, that's why we have a plan to bootcamp in Europe for a long time in the future, so we can grow as a team.

Tell me about these plans, do you know where you're going, what's happening?

After the RMR we're going to spend at least a month practicing in Europe. Hopefully we qualify for the Major and then we'll travel to Belgium, if we do qualify. After that, I don't know yet, but for sure we'll practice for a month after this event.

Would you like to have more time here?

Yeah, the plan is to spend more time in Europe than Asia in the future.

Is it hard to practice and get the team going in Asia?

It's not so easy to practice because there aren't many teams in Asia, so we face the same teams three or four times in a week. The practice isn't very good compared to Europe.

Regarding the RMR, you're playing the loser of the upper bracket for a spot at the Major, which will be IHC or Renegades. Would you like to get revenge on IHC or would you rather play Renegades?

I'd like to get revenge on IHC, but I would also like to play Renegades because my ex-teammate Liazz is playing there, and it would be fun playing him for a spot at the Major.

Where do you see TYLOO now, and how far do you think this team can go compared to past TYLOOs?

Skillwise we're not really far, but as a team we definitely need more time. We need to adjust many situations, our clutch situations, post-plant situations, and when we manage to have more experience I think this version of TYLOO could be the strongest one, but we're not there yet. We need more time.
