Round 3 matchups set at EU RMR as BIG beat Outsiders in largest upset so far

Day two at the European RMR in Bucharest will see two teams clinch Legends spots and two teams get eliminated.

The second round of the A group at the European Regional Major Ranking event has concluded, with BIG making the headlines as they secured the largest upset of the tournament so far in the form of Outsiders, earning a spot among the biggest favorites to qualify for the PGL Major in the 2-0 pool.

Meanwhile, FORZE, MOUZ, and SAW picked up important wins at the end of the first day to go 1-1. While it was smooth sailing from Christopher "dexter" Nong's team and the Portuguese squad, who beat QUAZAR and Unique in comfortable fashion, FORZE had to sweat for their win against GamerLegion in a full 30-round game on Mirage.

A FaZe matchup awaits BIG in the 2-0 pool on Monday

After the round ended, the round three matchups were decided via a combination of the Buchholz score and, where it was necessary, with the help of the original tournament seeding.

The headliners of day two are undoubtedly the matches in the 2-0 pool, which will see HEROIC face Natus Vincere at 13:30 and FaZe take on BIG at 17:15 in best-of-three series that will determine two Legends spots at PGL Major Antwerp.

In the 1-1 pool, Outsiders vs. MOUZ stands out as by far the closest matchup, which will take place at 12:15 . Four teams will fight for their lives in the 0-2 pool towards the end of the day, with QUAZAR facing off against Unique and Dignitas set to play GamerLegion in a battle of the only two Swedish-majority teams in attendance.

Here is the schedule for day two at the European RMR in Bucharest:

13:30 Denmark HEROIC vs. Ukraine Natus Vincere
17:15 Europe FaZe vs. Germany BIG

1-1 pool (BO1)

Silly that the two useless teams get to play each other, Quazar and Unique should face Dig and GL instead. Those teams at least can put up fights vs the good teams.

GamerLegion barely put up some rounds against a disjointed Fnatic and Quazar did 12 rounds against NaVi. I wouldn’t see GamerLegion above them.

Rank 149 vs rank 29. I would say the Navi result comes down to Navi being slow started as always, and Quazar being such an unknown entity that there probably wasn’t any material for Navi to look at. While GL plays in the EU t2/3 regularly so their strats are easily available for Fnatic to review. GL also put up 30 rounds vs Forze.

Then that basically means Quazar is better than rank 149, because they didn't play that many officials and thus couldn't get points in the ranking. In the end it changes nothing. If you can't beat Fnatic in their state, even barely scraping some rounds, you don't belong to the Major. So far it's been pretty fair at the RMRs, only Imperial making it because of the luck of the draw/seeding.

No, it means that unknown teams have a big advantage in their first games since no one knows how they play. Nothing else. You really seem to have an issue with Fnatic. How is it more impressive to get smashed by Mouz “considering the state they are in”? If anything they are worse than Fnatic. Neither of the mentioned teams are likely to make it, but now one of Quazar and Unique will get a free undeserved win.

Because Fnatic are in disarray, have no proper team. They will at best get a 2:3 score. You seem to have an issue that DIg or Gamerlegion will get a 0:3 instead of a 1:3. What does it change? There are so many teams who undeservedly got an extra win in the history of sports, e-sports or any competition. That happens. I would start to debate about this topic if it meant one team who could make it through with 3:2 ends up in 2:3 because they met let's say Faze, NaVi and Outsiders. More than not, it wouldn't be unlucky: They would be drawn almost all the time against the toughest team with their bad seeding.

It’s the issue with Swiss, it always give some team unfair advantage. I would still argue Mouz is in a similar state also just getting a academy player in (JDC/Peppzor). I feel GL/DIG can have a chance to scrape a 3-2, but there is 0 chance for Quazar or Unique. But most likely it doesn’t matter no. To be fair as well, I just pointed it out, you are the one who seemed it important to argue Quazar was better than useless from some fluke rounds vs Navi.

Pick your poison, big win 3-0 rmr then lose 0-3 in major or 2-0 to 2-3 in rmr.
