Astralis and Copenhagen Flames go 2-0; Sprout and ASG face elimination

Qualification for the Major will be on the line on day two as Astralis, Players, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Copenhagen Flames remain undefeated.

The first day of the second European Regional Major Ranking event has concluded with two more teams joining the 2-0 pool, Astralis and Copenhagen Flames, and reaching within striking distance of a spot at PGL Major Antwerp as they head into day two.

Meanwhile, Sprout and ASG went 0-2 on the opening day and are on the brink of elimination before entering the second day of competition in Bucharest, Romania.

It was smooth sailing for both of the Danish teams, who each ended up on Overpass against their respective opponents.

Copenhagen Flames brushed SINNERS aside in the second round, spearheaded by an inspired Jakob "⁠jabbi⁠" Nygaard performance, while Astralis had Benjamin "⁠blameF⁠" Bremer lead a surprisingly convincing CT side against the recent ESL Pro League runners-up, ENCE, as he consistently opened up rounds for his team in a marvelous display.

The former Complexity in-game leader leads the charts going into day two, averaging a 1.74 rating, 115.5 ADR, and a 2.27 impact rating after two maps, having also stood out in Astralis' opening victory against ASG.

Over in the 0-1 pool, HEET made up for their opening loss to SINNERS, facing little resistance from a weakened Sprout squad playing with their coach instead of Victor "⁠Staehr⁠" Staehr, who has been sidelined by an illness. Spirit also survived their 0-1 affair against their countrymen from ASG without too much trouble, picking up their first win in the Swiss stage after securing Dust2 16-6.
