Champion of Champions circuit announced with $3.4 million total prizemoney in 2022-2024

Various prominent tournament operators have teamed up once again to host a circuit culminating with a Global LAN Finals event in January 2024.

- 44 online cups, 11 LAN finals, and a global final
- FACEIT, Eden, Relog, Fantasyexpo, and Black Molly Entertainment among partners
- $3.4 million in prizemoney handed out over 1.5 years
- Online stage begins mid-2022

GRID and its foundational partners FACEIT, Eden Esports, Relog Media, Fantyasyexpo, and Black Molly Entertainment have jointly announced a new tournament circuit called "Champion of Champions Tour (CCT)," which is going to run from June 2022 to January 2024 and hand out a total of $3.4 million in prizemoney.

The organizers have teamed up with several other regional operators — Beyond the Summit Brazil, REPUBLEAGUE, FiReSPORTS, Fragster, and Gjirafa — in a mission to "provide an opportunity for emerging, regional esports talent" and "enable sustainable growth of the scene and support the professionalization of our industry as a whole," says GRID COO Tom Warburton.

What the Champion of Champions Tour entails is a series of tournaments layered into three phases, which will take place in several regions across the Americas and Europe.

It will begin in June with a $1.8 million online cups stage, through which teams will be able to qualify for the second stage featuring 11 studio LAN events and offering a total of $1.1 million in prizemoney. Teams will be awarded points in the leaderboard across the first two stages, fighting for a spot at the $500,000 CCT Global Finals, taking place in January 2024.

In essence, it is the second season of the currently ongoing Champion of Champions circuit, which has hosted tens of events over the past year and is set to culminate with the LAN Sweet LAN finals later this year.

More details about the exact structure and specific tournaments that will be held will be revealed in the coming weeks, according to the organizers. More information can also be found on the website of the circuit.

When we had 1.6 for 10 years, everybody complained and stop tournaments just because there was a new raw game which was rejected by most of pros. But because the lack of tournaments, they switched. When this gonna happen again?

More big tours = good. I mean matchfixing happens in CS (like in every sport, there's no way matchfixing doesn't happen in any kind of sports at all), but it's not a common thing for sure (Maybe except for Chinese scene). Not to mention that FACEIT is among the partners here, so I doubt it's a some shady thing. Right now we only have BLAST and ESL (and PGL, but they're shit). They're good, but we need more tournament hosts, to have more competition. People are really exaggerating over this.

the reason why many leagues pop up and disappear is because of their shady investors. csgo is one of these games that no one take it seriously that's why they keep matchfixing almost more than 50% of games and let's not forget the shady investors that pop up and fund shitty cups with bookies for big prize pool then disappear and never hear from them again.

The TOs could just host tournaments on Asia it's not that hard if your mission is to grow the scene and if everyone went to EU then it would kill our scene more. Because of covid in china Funspark won't be doing any events this year.
