MIBR will now be fighting for their tournament lives against HEROIC in their next match.
In the second match of the day, Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz's squad took the win over MIBR in the Pinnacle Cup Championship in a convincing 16-7 display on Nuke. BIG join fnatic in the Group A winners' match to determine who will claim the group's top spot and a place in the upper bracket final.
On the other hand, MIBR's new-look roster, with Breno "brnz4n" Poletto taking the place of the benched Adriano "WOOD7" Cerato, are off to a poor start and find themselves in a do-or-die against HEROIC on Thursday after fnatic upset the Danes in the other group opener.
BIG opened Nuke with absolute dominance, completely shutting down and overwhelming MIBR's advances onto site as they cruised to a 9-0 lead behind standout fragging from Josef "faveN" Baumann, Karim "Krimbo" Moussa, and Florian "syrsoN" Rische. The Brazilians finally got their first round on the board in the tenth after Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia delivered a 1vs3 clutch, however BIG quickly bounced back and only allowed MIBR to garner one more round in the first half as the the Germans found themselves comfortably in the driver's seat, up 13-2 heading into the break.
The second pistol round went BIG's way, who looked almost certain to end the map in the next two rounds before a successful force-buy conversion from MIBR set the Germans' economy back, with Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes' side stringing together three straight, bringing them within nine of BIG. Even though Krimbo wasn't able to cap off the 1vs4 clutch in the 19th, eliminating three members of MIBR gave his team a significant boost on economy and weaponry as they reached map point at 15-5. The Brazilians put up a valiant effort near the end, but it was too little, too late as BIG closed out Nuke, 16-7.
