Liquid knock Cloud9 out of IEM Cologne

The North Americans are one series away from reaching the playoffs in the LANXESS Arena.

Liquid have earned their spot in Group B's lower bracket final after dispatching of Cloud9 in straight maps. The Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov-led squad gave Liquid a run for their money as the attacking side, but in the end their efforts weren't enough with the North Americans claiming 16-11 and 16-9 victories on Dust2 and Vertigo, respectively.

After a strong display against Outsiders in their opening series, Cloud9 find themselves out of IEM Cologne altogether having to settle for 9-12th place. The Russians couldn't build off their early tournament success, suffering back-to-back 0-2 sweeps against Astralis in the upper semi-finals and finally to Liquid in their elimination match. Meanwhile, Liquid will face the winner of FURIA - Spirit next for a place in the LANXESS.

Liquid are one best-of-three away from the IEM Cologne playoffs

Dust2 was Liquid's map pick, in which they wasted no time breaking through Cloud9's defense and creating a sizeable lead, up 5-0 early on. nafany's side finally got themselves on the board in the sixth, however Liquid's superb utility usage and well-organized advances on either bomb site continued to cause problems for the Russians, as Josh "oSee" Ohm drove his team to a 10-1 advantage. Cloud9 were able to finish off the half with a slightly more promising display, taking three of the last four cutting their deficit to seven.

Cloud9 went on an absolute tear coming out of the break, nearly erasing Liquid's lead in its entirety behind some impeccable fragging from Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov as the Russians found themselves trailing by just one round, down 11-12. Faced with the threat of a potential Cloud9 comeback, Liquid dug deep and turned things around at the most crucial time, reawakening their T side dominance and scoring four straight to take home the 16-11 Dust2 victory.

A three-for-three exchange opened up Vertigo, with Cloud9 securing the early lead before Liquid quickly answered back and brought the game level, with Ax1Le and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski dropping important triple-kills for their respective teams. Despite the slow start, the defense provided by Nick "nitr0" Cannella's crew turned things around as Liquid managed to enter the switch up 9-6 with Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis's 17 kills leading the charge.

As the second period got underway, Liquid and Cloud9 picked up right where they left off, with the first five rounds going back-and-forth between the pair. Just as the game was reaching a fever pitch, nitr0 and company found the winning formula at the perfect time scoring five out of the next six to seal the 2-0 sweep, ending Cloud9's run at IEM Cologne.

Language-learning apps can help you extend your vocabulary but you really gotta start with things like translating children's books, watching TV with subtitles and listening to music in whatever language you wish to learn. Then once you can hold a conversation you need to practice with people who speak the language.

Dissapointing result is the least i can say without raging. Easiest group, easiest bracket and you managed to fuck this up. Nafany played like a bot again, interz 0 impact in terms of firepower. Ax1le pulled off all aim no brain card on vertigo. 9-14 score, bro, he cleared b stairs and i dont know what was the call, but why instead of staying there or trying to flank, he moved back towards mid to help teammates on A, holy shit, would be better if their rotations were that fast on inferno. Hobbit unerperformed, Sh1ro was the only one who tried to bring some impact. Nafany is actually the biggest no-brainer, how many times he needs to understnd that his fast ramp taking on vertigo doesnt work like in Dallas, where he was destroying Liquid taking ramp early and liquid werent prepared. But no, he kept tryting to do the same thing over and over again and Osee killed him everytime. I am a fan of this line-up and i still support them, but if they fail EPL (if their placing in ESL leaderboard will be good and they will be invited) and major in RIO, i would love to see nafany removal and mb try to add boombla if he will be available. Excuses like "we had bad atmospehere in teamspeek, nafany had a headache, bad communication etc" will not be tolerated, no, stop with this crap. "I don’t really know what to say. Sorry everyone who supported us I knew that u expect other result and all what I can promise that I will work way harder then before to not repeat that" Doesnt look like it, bro. Props to Osee tho, this guy is amazing with awp and keeps improving very fast. Good luck further, Liquid.

Heroic just changed their lineup... They needed more time to be ready. Liquid playing with a standin, against the top4 team in a the world is a bigger upset in my book.

false statement. Heroic faced mouz in play-in and won that series 2-1. Mouz played them literally 2 days later again and adjusted what went wrong in that series and came out on top. these are 2 teams who haven't played each other prior very recently (within 5 days) so this is for sure the bigger upset.

Not really as bookie odds actually determine how big of an upset it is, not your fantasy, C9 haven’t looked like a top4 team since Dallas, they got outplayed by Astralis, and rocket by big, beating outsiders but again it’s outsiders,

Bookies decide nothing except the likelihood of something happening. Does not mean it is actual strength or form. It does not decide if something is an upset, only for delusional and mad betters. You are not even presenting an argument here lmao.
