Liquid qualify for Fall Final with dominant win over Heroic
The North American team was in control of the series throughout.
"Not going to the showdown is a sigh of relief," said longest-standing Liquid member Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski after his team secured a comfortable 2-0 win over HEROIC (16-6 Vertigo, 16-8 Overpass) which qualified them for the BLAST Premier Fall Final in November.
The match between the two teams was more one-sided than EliGE expected, he admitted surprisingly in a post-match interview. "We just owned them I don't know what to say." Team coach Damian "daps" Steele added more context regarding the expectations between maps, revealing that HEROIC are one of the teams they "struggle the most versus in scrims."
There was no sign of struggle in this BO3, though, as powered by their still-unsigned Latvian star Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis Liquid ran over their opposition, secured a spot at the LAN in Copenhagen, and sent home boys HEROIC to the last-chance match against Ninjas in Pyjamas.

YEKINDAR's efforts pulled Liquid back from a 1-4 start on the T side of their map pick, Vertigo, as he picked up crucial multikills. The score was equalized at 6-6 and consequently the North American squad took over the lead for a comfortable 9-6 finish. Making sure the map was going to be a quick one, the Latvian then picked up an improbable 3K and last-second defuse to win the CT pistol, leading to a flawless defensive side and a 16-6 scoreline.

A pistol round whiff turned into a James Bond start for captain Casper "cadiaN" Møller, who had a 0-7 K-D down to start Overpass, with Liquid off to a blistering start. Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co. won nine unanswered, dominant rounds to start the map, which EliGE predicted coming through as HEROIC's pick in a pre-match interview.
It could be the preparation, the individual form, or something else that made the difference, but Liquid swatted HEROIC like flies on the CT side, limiting them to just three rounds in the first half. René "TeSeS" Madsen and Rasmus "sjuush" Beck were doing their best to keep the Danish team afloat, but the comeback was never a reality as Liquid closed out 16-8.
