IEM Road to Rio 2022 Europe RMR BMonte and OG to 1-1 pool following dominant wins; SAW and Illuminar one loss from elimination
Both SAW and Illuminar now require a flawless RMR campaign if they want a shot at reaching IEM Rio.
Monte bounced back from their opening game loss to Outsiders and completely dominated SAW, sending the Portuguese side to the 0-2 pool. OG also avenged their opening round loss with a statement 16-5 win over Illuminar as the Poles remain winless in Malta.
Monte annihilated Portuguese side SAW with a near-flawless 16-3 victory on Nuke. The European mix played fast and aggressive despite starting on the CT side, which Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes' men had no answer for as the Portuguese side trailed by a whopping 13 rounds at halftime.
SAW scored back-to-back rounds coming out of the break and increased their tally in the game to three. Monte converted the next two rounds, both of which initially favored the Portuguese, as Frederik "Fessor" Sørensen delivered the final blow in the 19th to secure his team's first win at the RMR. Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk topped the scoreboard with 20 kills and a 1.90 rating thanks to a magnificent display of firepower.

Illuminar hit the ground running on Overpass and streaked to an early 5-0 lead. The Poles may have struck first, but OG clapped back even stronger and were unrelenting from that point onwards. The European mix snapped their Polish opponents' streak in the sixth, which was the beginning of the end for Illuminar.
Nemanja "nexa" Isaković's crew won 16 consecutive rounds to win the game as Maciej "F1KU" Miklas Adam "NEOFRAG" Zouhar, and Shahar "flameZ" Shushan all rained bullets on their opposition and finished with 23, 22, and 20 kills respectively.
Monte and OG join K23 and Sangal as teams in the 1-1 pool, while Illuminar and SAW fall to the 0-2 pool alongside HEET and FANTASY and are now one best-of-three loss away from elimination.
