The in-game leader of the Turkish side was removed just three months into his stint.

Eternal Fire has announced the departure of veteran player Engin "⁠MAJ3R⁠" Küpeli and the return of 19-year-old Yasin "⁠xfl0ud⁠" Koç after a failed attempt to qualify for the IEM Rio Major.

The change was announced a day after Eternal Fire's loss to fnatic which saw them eliminated from the European RMR tournament with a 1W-3L score. With the return of previously inactive xfl0ud to the lineup, Eternal Fire are again left without a natural fit for the caller position. After reaching out to the team, HLTV.org has confirmed that Ömer "⁠imoRR⁠" Karataş will be taking the in-game leader role moving forward.

MAJ3R is looking for a new home after an unexpected EF exit

The 31-year-old MAJ3R, who returned from VALORANT to compete with the Turkish superteam in July, made it clear that he didn't agree with the decision.

"Hello everyone, unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned in EF. I’m out of the project definitely early and wish them good luck further in their adventure," MAJ3R wrote on Twitlonger, explaining that the three months have been hard psychologically and that he was released from the team "strangely." After all, since he joined the team, Eternal Fire briefly reached their peak world ranking, No. 18, qualified for BLAST Showdown and ESL Challenger Rotterdam, and played a solid ESL Pro League season before failing to advance from the RMR.

MAJ3R made it clear that he wants to continue playing and competing. "İndividually I feel great, and as a leader. I love esports so much and most of all, I believe in myself very much. I'm still motivated to play and be somewhere where I can have control and build something healthy and good."

He also invited interested parties to contact him via Twitter DM or email ([email protected]) as he enters free agency.

Don’t agree at all. They reached their peak in a long time with Majer, qualified for Blast, RMR, decent EPL season… it feels like what was missing in the team is an addition of many small details. One of those is imorr being very inconsistent. For paz it’s different, it’s his role. Logically -> -imorr +xfloud

I guess something happened during EPL. After they lost to EG, their faces never smiled again. Even if when they took over Liquid, we felt the stress they had. It seems majer lost control on team. There were a lot of miscommunication and bad mid round decisions at RMR. Something happened for sure but we can't know all details.

The signs of the psychological decline of the roster were visible after RMR, which showed itself in wrong calls, big misplays, and highly inconsistent performance from one game to another. I do believe xl0ud has great potential but the current IGL issue will sustain being a problem, which will lead to wrong calls and then mental issues within the team. im0rr, despite being criticized too much, has great firepower potential, but he needs to play with more "brain". I do believe if he achieves a certain level of self-control he can be great potential as well, but I doubt he can be a good IGL, rather he'll try to get 1-2 entry frags and die then try to IGL the game. Woxic needs to be more stable, he was the sole reason for some games to turn into a "win", but also a stupid defeat as well. Paz needs a few months to better his aim, I do believe he will be 3rd most fragger within few months. No words for Xantares, we know he can be an absolute beast if he thinks clearly. I just hope that the roster stop blaming each other and the coach would point out the obvious errors and misplays of some players so they can play better. This team has the potential to be in & stay in the Top 10 if they stop being toxic and just start believing each other.

There was a serious conflict between EF playbook and MAJER's playbook and his teammates' lost trust very quick because JER got smashed on t1 level by meanings of strats and calls. Ok I'm completely shocked by this, MAJ3R was looking like the last piece of the puzzle, a solid IGL, they played well at EPL, now they had a bad run but they shouldn't make changes so quick imo., very dissapointed with it. I was very excited about this EF team, but tbh. with this move I think they are going no where, TOP 20-30 is probably all that they can hope for without a proper IGL, really dissapointed ngl.

well it was unnecessary to bench xfloud and calyx to hire a old-fashioned IGL and his life-long partners. they tried to qualify so many times while they were under the name Sangal with almost the same roaster for past 2 or 3 seasons. but they couldnt even play in Major or couldnt reach top 25. he's still trying the same old layouts and tactics since 2018 as he did in SpaceSoldiers. Sad to see that turkish cs:go scene is ending up like this. Bcs it seems like EF is their only chance to stay in this arena. anyway huge respect to maj3r and good luck with his new carrier. hopefully he makes good decisions about his upcoming carrier.

If were me, Imorr will be my first choice to be removed from the roster. People say -paz but I think he did better than imorr in entrying. Pazpeek. Let's see if imorr as IGL will work or not.

My only explanation for this move is that they got what they wanted from maj3r; a team structure. Now that they got what they wanted they are planning to help imorr to grow into an IGL role. If this is the reason for this move, they will have to maximum fire power with IGL role filled.
