Heroic demolish fnatic; Outsiders put NIP on brink of elimination

Casper "cadiaN" Møller's team steamrolled past the European combine on Mirage to go 2-0.

The second round of Legends Stage matches have come to an end in Rio, with HEROIC joining the 2-0 pool of teams after dismantling fnatic 16-2 on Mirage. William "mezii" Merriman's side had no chance to get into the fight as the Danish team were in control from the onset, quickly attaining a win to earn a spot in the qualification matches heading into day two.

Meanwhile, Dzhami "Jame" Ali's Outsiders outlasted Ninjas in Pyjamas in the 0-1 pool, recovering from an 8-11 deficit to win Mirage 16-12 and cast Hampus "hampus" Poser and company down to an extremely dangerous 0-2 elimination pool.

stavn and cadiaN led the way for Heroic in a one-sided victory

Martin "stavn" Lund seized immediate control for HEROIC on Mirage, tapping down four fnatic players in the opening pistol to give the Danish team early control. That momentum was quickly converted into an early spree of rounds as HEROIC didn't let up, shutting the European team out of bombsites round after round en route to a 10-0 lead. fnatic finally put a round on the board at that point, but just when it looked like they could begin gaining steam, René "TeSeS" Madsen shut down those hopes by grabbing a triple kill and closing out a 1vs2 clutch, helping his team to a 13-2 lead at halftime.

fnatic had no opportunity to get back into the map in the second half as HEROIC won the second pistol round in dominant fashion, and it took just two rounds from that point for them to close things out, 16-2, to move themselves into the 2-0 pool of the Legends Stage.

The Mirage match between Outsiders and Ninjas in Pyjamas resulted in a more contentious scoreline, Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin kicking things off for his side with a triple kill to take the first pistol round. There was little to write home about for Ninjas in Pyjamas in the opening stages of the map from there though, advantageous rounds and situations being squandered as Outsiders pushed up to an 8-3 lead on the T side. Only at the end of the half did the majority-Swedish side stabilize to reduce the deficit to just one round at the break, multi-kills from Fredrik "REZ" Sterner's AWP closing out a pair of crucial late-round situations to keep the scoreline close.

Jame's attempt to clutch a 1vs4 in the second pistol round was denied by Brollan, a win that helped Ninjas in Pyjamas take the lead and forge ahead to an 11-8 scorelime. From there though, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's team were unable to muster much of an attack, with Jame, Petr "fame" Bolyshev, and David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan combining to shut down a handful of attempts to attack bombsites and help Outsiders regain control and close out the map, 16-12.

hahahaha aleksib fans are so delusional the dude won both halves pistol for your precious IGL. The one who lost this game was aleksi with his garbage calls lets take A and rotate B into stack for no reason dry walk palace without utility with jame watching Mid to B with utility only from middle lets lose a CT half by calling for pushes vs the most passive T team.
