FURIA set to play in Jeunesse Arena after advancing to IEM Rio Major playoffs

The Brazilian team have ensured that there will be a hometown representative in the arena after advancing 3-0.

FURIA have made it through to the playoffs of the IEM Rio Major after breezing past BIG in 2-0 fashion, trouncing the German team on Nuke (16-9) and Vertigo (16-6). They are the sole Brazilian representative to advance to the arena stage after the elimination of 00NATION and Imperial, and will have a few days to prepare for the next stage, having now made their third consecutive Major playoff appearance.

BIG still have two more chances to earn a spot in the bracket stage of the Major, but will need to show much better form than today if they want to beat Outsiders or fnatic, the opponents they will likely face in the 2-1 pool on Monday.

FURIA will play in front of a packed Jeunesse Arena

It was a dominant series from FURIA from start to finish, the home crowd loudly voicing their support and putting their weight behind the Brazilian team to both give them momentum, and to douse any fledgling flame of hope that might have lit for BIG upon their few round wins.

Yuri "yuurih" Santos got things started for his side with a quad kill defense with the Dualies on Nuke, and immediately followed that opening with an anti-eco ace to give FURIA the lead. BIG managed to answer back early on, climbing to a 6-5 lead, but were unable to crack through FURIA's defenses nor halt Andrei "arT" Piovezan's aggression at the end of the half, allowing the Brazilian team to pull ahead by three rounds at the break.

BIG were given even fewer opportunities to get back into the map once FURIA were on the attack, multi-kill rounds from arT and yuurih ensuring that their side quickly climbed towards match point before they closed things out, 16-9, to move the series on to their own pick of Vertigo.

The second map proved even more one-sided than the first as FURIA hit the ground running and refused to concede any ground on the T side, bullying BIG at A ramp and almost always coming out on top of the early fights. Even the times that Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz's men won the early duels, they faltered in the late round, FURIA proving the better team time and time again and conceding just three rounds to the German side in the first half en route to a 12-3 scoreline.

Three frags from Nils "k1to" Gruhne allowed BIG to win the second pistol round of the map and briefly gave them some life, but that momentum quickly sputtered out once FURIA were on rifles once again. A double kill through smoke from arT added insult to injury in the first round that FURIA won on the defense, and from that point BIG only got four more kills in the next three rounds as FURIA cruised to a 16-6 victory to take the series.

It was sold out half of an hour after the wave of tickets were on sale... Many people couldn't get a ticket, that's the reason why ESL had the idea of building a fan fest outside the arena.

Yeah, and it's rough because both of them are coming from the lower bracket, so since furia finished top of legends, they'll probably match into one of them

I already knew the team would be very strong, but I didn't expect such a solid adaptation from saffee and an incredible resilience and competence from drop, playing full sup/solo bomb. art has an extremely sophisticated and reactive game plan, the players already know what to do, as soon as something happens on the map. yuri, andrei and kaique have a brutal magnetism in the fluidity of communication, trade kill setup and utility use/reaction. as these 3 have been playing together for many years, the reaction protocol to certain plays is automatic. the guys are very good at recognizing map control, they punish a lot of tr advances, they change the rhythm with ease making their game unpredictable, arT really commands with mastery and makes everyone have a strong confidence in his calling. to realize that this core of players was at the top of brazilian cs for a long time and didn't win many important titles, seems unfair or even inefficient of the team. the truth is that furia was born and took shape very quickly as an org and took its space in CS. the player and lineup changes, the organization's project working and opening windows to other opportunities... jaime and akkari's trust in art ksc yuri and vini (and ableJ! ), who bet on some unknown kids and let the work flow, the players evolve: this work is very insane and hard to make possible. the cs scene is very disputed and colossal organizations dominate 90% of the conquest of the biggest titles in csgo (tier S). realize that furia can indeed mark success and recognize the mastery of furia cs, inventive, methodical, very technical. players with impeccable individual mechanical skill, mainly ks and yuri, drop also has mastery in aim positioning and pixel opening entering first in several situations. saffee is a refined awp, fast with the scope and very disciplined. he is a player with different energy, very inexperienced and older, he can compete with the most skilled awpers when he is supported substantially. at furia he oscillated since his arrival exactly because of the gap between the opponents he faced at pain pros at furia. as soon as he started training a lot with the guys, doing bootcamp, getting the system, he started to add up quietly as a discreet floating awper, he didn't get to be top frag because furia's system doesn't put him as a star player, so he doesn't make aggressive picks very often. drop has a very good aim, is really talented, plays the most difficult roles and is very disciplined. i particularly think he is a little cocky, but that is really good when you are young and need confidence to play against the big boys. furia's performance in the major will depend 100% on the boys' ability to escape from nervousness and frustration, fail less in relation to executing TR strategies, i hope furia insists on vertigo, mirage, ancient and overpass because they are extremely dominant maps. inferno and nuke of furia also have a lot of sophistication and we already had many dominant matches in them, but for the recent activity I see them as maps a little more unstable, inferno is even better recently. finally, I just wanted to say that being a fan of this team is very cool, they have a fucked up energy and you can see that they are a family, a group with a lot of energy and desire, everyone should be congratulated. if furia loses to big after losing two md3's, i still believe that we will get a tier S championship this year, because art is already establishing a systematic way to play cs that furia is applying better and better, in a dominant way and without many mistakes. when yuri and ks are in a good moment being supported by the others, they have the ability to make impact multi kills, to win rounds in duo. and the impact of art that has been important for furia to establish itself, mainly in MD3, is my complete idol. i love him and i'm completely inspired by the way he plays/thinks cs in my gameplay and game vision. he's a player that does a lot of ADR and gets info, when he can delay his kill even if he's the first of the round to fall, regularly his team gets a positional advantage over the opponent by the high diversification of tr or ct setups. a signature art play in mirage is to play awp on B apps and get the pixel from the gap, besides the fast mid sprint with the top mid and window smokes, to apply pressure in connector and try to get a first kill in the middle. the time to write furia's name in the history of cs has come, 2023 is the year that furia gets top 1, I don't know if there will be a change if there will be a major, I just know that these kids will bring a lot of happiness to us. @arTcsgo @yuurih @kscerato @saffeecsgo @jaimepadua @aakkari congratulations for being all that, all the silent work will pay off

ONLY SOMEONE WHO SAW THIS TEAM EVOLVE CAN SAY SOMEONE LIKE THAT, THAT WAS TRULY WHAT I WANTED TO SAY TO EVERYONE, most people think this team isn't good or that they aren't capable because they continues to fall in the playoff of big events, but this team are tryin very hard they suffer a LOT OF HATE from all the world (including Brazil since 2019) they have to deal with the pressure and the failure and the fact that they didn't make it again and again, FURIA IS FORGED IN THE FLAMES OF CONSTANT TRAINING AND THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T GAVE UP AND IS STILL EVOLVING IS AMAZING, I love this team for me is almost a lifestyle when I see those guys tryin so hard over and over again I can't gave up too, I have to keep tryin to get better in my life and i Had to KEEP BELIEVING and NOW I can see, they ARE READY go on furia, make history, I know you deserve this.

This is the biggest chance furia will ever get. Faze out, maybe navi or vita, so not many experienced teams left. In my opinion furia plays well against teams with no good structure, because of their rushes. Navi without boom is a lot worse, vita have apex, karrigan is out. No better chance than now. gl

I just dont think that the style art wants to play is enough to be the best. I get the old envyus vibe with them, just push and hope for the best. The reason it worked with envy was shox being in his prime, kio was beasting back then and apex was actually good. I dont think furia has the raw skill to make this work, i mean being at the top, while playing like this.

I feel like drop could be replaced. He seems kind of like an average player to be in that lineup. Maybe he will improve with time though. I know he did have a couple of decent games in this tournament so far. But overall he’s been underwhelming since he joined
