G2 and Heroic guarantee BLAST Premier World Final spots *

Only two more spots are left to be decided with four teams still within a chance to secure them.

November 25, 15:15 : Clarification on Liquid's qualification requirements

The article was corrected, as BLAST's calculation on their website and a graphic they showed on the stream at the end of the group stage was incorrect. To secure a spot at the World Final Liquid need either a top-two finish in Copenhagen or for Ninjas in Pyjamas not to win the tournament.

G2 and HEROIC have qualified for the BLAST Premier World Final after locking out two out of three spots reserved for teams coming from the BLAST Leaderboard, a points ranking based on teams' placing at top-tier events throughout the year.

The two teams have guaranteed themselves at least a top-three placement in the Leaderboard — excluding FaZe, Natus Vincere, and Vitality, who qualified for the event by winning the two ESL Pro League Seasons and BLAST Premier Spring Final — in the aftermath of OG's last-place elimination from the BLAST Premier Fall Final.

G2 will go to Abu Dhabi for the end-of-year $1,000,000 spectacle

Two more spots are left to be determined, one going to the winner of the Fall Final and another reserved for the BLAST Leaderboard. An extra spot will be decided via the Leaderboard in case FaZe, Natus Vincere, G2, or HEROIC claim the trophy in Denmark, as they've already qualified for the World Final.

Despite their early exit in Denmark, OG are currently placed the highest out of the remaining teams still vying for a spot. ENCE are fourth in line without a chance to earn more points, followed by Liquid. Ninjas in Pyjamas are also still in the fight, requiring a victory at the Fall Final to qualify.

The six teams qualified for BLAST Premier World Finals, taking place from December 14-18, are:

* If one of the already qualified teams wins BLAST Premier Fall Final, the spot will go to the next best team in the BLAST Leaderboard

No, we have a recent bias toward them. They deserve to be at the finals since they played well until the major, but rn, they look flat. Choko and el0ge are fighting in the contest of the biggest choker. Hooxi strats are fpl level. Teamplay is near of a fpl mix. But monesy keep a decent form and hunter is more consistent

how do you know liquid will get enough points to pass ENCE if they dont win? and potentially liquid could win, then its ENCE and OG that go through for sure

I think Blast Groups are way too heavy in this points system. What have OG done this year? Their biggest achievements were passing groups 2 times, one was a good showing in Spring Finals and the other they got smashed by Faze and lost to Faze. Especially weird that these events give you so many points if you get 1st place when they're basically seeding events (not saying teams don't take it very seriously) and they are after player breaks, when things are quite volatile. Ence and C9 had a much better year overall but miss out on a ton of points due to not being partner teams. Mouz had a better year too. OG just get a big buff from doing well in Blast groups.

Yeah you are right, 1-3 places get too many points (2400) for winning 3 bo3s at group events, this is what happened to og for example at fall groups, they've lost two bo1s prior. Team that end up second at prestige esl events with higher competition get less points, it's a so closed circuit it's a joke.

My comment came from a perspective of "deserving" and having the best teams at the world final. I completely overlooked the fact that it's an event circuit with partnered teams, so from their perspective it makes sense to give some advantage to their partner teams.

Can't recall such a scenario happening at a BLAST series, but I think in most other TOs I've seen the spot being awarded to the 2nd place team if the 1st place is already qualified for the event

if it goes down to the wire, hooxi has better calls than aleksib. aleksib is a better individual player. g2 is not in need of individual skill. therefore hooxi is a better solution for g2 than aleksib. its not the best solution, but i dont think you will find many iglś who have the ability to manhandle niko and hunter.

The calls are better but the structure is not. The team has one of worst spacing in t1. The rush come in two waves. The trades are not there. The teamplay is awful. So, hooxi is the same level of aleksib if not worse.
