The 21-year-old will debut at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups.

Evil Geniuses have announced that Jerric "⁠wiz⁠" Jiang, previously of EG Black, will take up AWPing duties for the squad beginning with BLAST Premier Spring Groups. The news comes not long after Tsvetelin "⁠CeRq⁠" Dimitrov ended his three-year stint with the organisation.

wiz's form for EG Black earned him a call-up to the main roster

Evil Geniuses revamped their squad mid-way through last year after a consistent period of underwhelming performances dating back to the end of 2021. Whilst the changes brought about an improvement in the team's form, as evidenced by the fact they avoided finishing joint-last in ESL Pro League for the first time in multiple attempts, they failed to make much headway at the IEM Rio Major or make it through the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown.

CeRq leaves Evil Geniuses

Their newly-promoted player wiz spent the latter half of 2022 playing for EG Black, having built his name in the North American scene playing for RBG and briefly Carpe Diem. The young AWPer performed admirably during his time with EG Black, posting a healthy 1.14 rating and an impressive +286 kill differential.

Evil Geniuses will debut their new AWPer on Thursday January 19 as they kick off their BLAST Premier Spring Groups campaign against HEROIC. That match will take place at 15:00 , and you can catch the action on the BLAST Premier Twitch channel.

The guy do have talent though. You would have to except that he will perform at a level similarly to Hallzerk which isn’t spectacular but not bad either. So yes they will continue to be mediocre but they might finally have enough quality to go for a deep run or two

He's been smurfing on NA teams in EG Black but he was mediocre on RBG before that and since he's untested against top tier opposition there's no way to know for sure if his numbers will hold up at all. He'll probably play better than CeRq tho, and he has the potential to be a great AWPer

There is no way to tell, jeorge should be on the main roster because at the very least he did super good at the RMR, which is lan and against brazil teams. HexT is probably on the chopping block and wiz probalby won't last long if he can't do anything on lan.

I think they'll be T2 competitive, but they'll still be last in their partner leagues. Maybe they'll make legends at a major or do decent at EPL with the new system (and by decent, I mean not last lol)

Yeah I agree, especially ab mantuu. I think the jeorge one is kinda a risk. Hext's first international lan was Blast groups in August. He's had less than 4 months of international competition. And like, jeorge has had an excellent year, but Hext was stomping people in NA ECL too before he got promoted. I think hext should have another season or EG should go international for that role

EG is a Joke

One of the few smart moves EG has made. However, their Blueprint Project is still over-ambitious and doesn't make them unique in a good way. It's un-necessary spending that could be put towards T1/T2 NA players or Tier 1/2 EU / Asian / AU/NZ players.

EG is probably broke from their terrible spending habits. They bought 2 of NA's best Tier 2 teams, but made them worse lol.
