Viperio sign Extinct

The UK squad have decided not to continue with stand-in Rory "⁠cryths⁠" Ursell despite him helping them to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR A.

Irish rifler Matas "⁠Extinct⁠" Strumila has been picked up by Viperio, mere weeks after the team qualified for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR. He takes the spot on the roster most recently occupied by stand-in cryths.

Viperio have made waves in recent weeks by battling their way through the daunting BLAST.tv Paris Major qualification circuit, making it all the way to the European RMR A due to take place in April. This coincided with the team's rise to a ranking of No. 55 in the world.

These successes were achieved with stand-in cryths amongst their ranks, the UK player having come into the squad at short notice after James "⁠bevve⁠" Slinn was unable to play the BLAST.tv Paris Major qualifiers due to personal circumstances. Not long after, bevve mutually parted ways with the team.

cryths' contributions were not enough to earn him a long-term spot on the roster however, and Extinct has been brought in as the fulltime fifth instead. The Irish player already has a long history with the core of the Viperio roster, having played with them on various teams throughout the last couple of years, most recently EKO.

There was some disappointment voiced by sections of the UKCS community after the news of Extinct's signing was made public, largely due the perceived unfairness of the treatment of cryths after he helped Viperio qualify for the RMR. Such was the noise generated that the team's coach Ciaran "⁠biscu⁠" King felt the need to address the situation on Twitter.

Extinct will not have to wait long for his debut with his new team, as Viperio are facing off against GODSENT on March 2 in CCT North Europe Series 4.
