Teams set for EPL playoffs Fantasy game; two partner games also open to play

More fantasy action is in the cards as games are open to play for ESL Pro League playoffs, CCT West Europe Series 2 playoffs, and ESL Challenger League Europe Relegation.

The HLTV Spring season of Fantasy continues with the ESL Pro League playoffs game, with users able to compete in the HLTV x Roobet league for skins prizes as well as points for the seasonal leaderboard.

There are also two partner games ready to play, one for the CCT West Europe Series 2 playoffs and one for the ESL Challenger League Europe Relegation. Whilst these games do not count towards the seasonal leaderboard, there will still be skin prizes for the taking in the HLTV x Roobet leagues.

For the ESL Pro League playoffs game, teams are starting at different stages of the playoff bracket. Players picked who are part of teams seeded deeper into the bracket will get six points for every stage of the playoffs they skipped. For example, if you pick a player from one of the quarter-final teams, they will get six points for playoffs round 1 and six for playoffs round 2 (for a total of 12). Fantasy players will need to evaluate the risk of picking a player from a less-favored team, who may be able to secure many more than six points for the earlier rounds.

It is no surprise that four G2 members reside amongst the most picked players for the game, as they are heavy favorites to take the title. Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen currently sits at No. 1, comfortably ahead of his teammate Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage in second. Interestingly three other in-game leaders are also in the top-eight, Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov and Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire, suggesting a popular strategy is to pick leaders of teams who are likely to go deep in the competition as a budget option (all four are amongst the cheapest players available).

In the CCT West Europe game things are simpler as all teams start from the same point, the round of 16. As such, picking players from teams who go far is the path to victory. Currently David "⁠dav1g⁠" Granado Bermudo is the most picked player, reflecting confidence in Movistar Riders to perform, with several Sprout and 500 members in the mix as well.

As for the ESL Challenger League game, fantasy players are faced with a dilemma. Players picked from teams that make it through the upper bracket will play less games than those who qualify via the lower bracket, and thus their scores will be padded with the average from previous rounds. Fantasy experts will need to balance the possibility that lower bracket runs could earn more points with the fact strong upper bracket performers will earn healthy totals with the padding included.

It is also worth bearing in mind that although the higher ranked teams in the competition like Movistar Riders are firm favourites, some players have had their prices increased to reflect this. Consequently, some less-favoured teams have seen some price decreases.
