FaZe ease past FURIA; set to face FORZE in EPL quarter-final
The European powerhouse had no difficulty dispatching of Andrei "arT" Piovezan's troops.
FaZe advanced to the quarter-finals of ESL Pro League Season 17 after securing a quick 2-0 victory over FURIA, dominating in the second halves of Anubis and Nuke to secure 16-9 and 16-7 wins, respectively, to eliminate the Brazilian team from the competition.
Finn "karrigan" Andersen's troops are fighting for the chance to claim the Intel Grand Slam title, and had their odds increase dramatically earlier in the day after ENCE saw to the elimination of EPL title favorites G2. Still, the European team have a difficult path between them and the grand final as they first must fight past FORZE on Friday at 15:30 , and then take on Natus Vincere or HEROIC in order to make it to the title decider.

FaZe garnered the early advantage on Anubis with a pistol round victory and subsequent conversion, but failed to extend that further as Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato gunned down three players in the first full gun round to help FURIA recover a 2vs5 situation. The Brazilian side surged ahead with four rounds off the back of that victory, 5-2, before the two teams clashed in a blow-for-blow trade with two rounds that came down to the wire. It was FaZe who came out on top of that back-and-forth, piecing together close wins toward the end of the half to narrowly pull ahead by a single round heading into the side swap.
Utter dominance ensued once FaZe were on the T side — the European super-squad seized control with a pistol round victory and didn't relent from that point on, multi-kill rounds from Robin "ropz" Kool, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, and karrigan powering them to a 14-7 lead. Massive rounds from arT and Yuri "yuurih" Santos gave FURIA a small window of opportunity to recover into the map, but Håvard "rain" Nygaard and ropz combined with triple kill rounds to immediately shut the Brazilan side down and take the map over the line, 16-9.
FURIA's made an effort to get back into the series as they came into Nuke all guns blazing, triple kill rounds from André "drop" Abreu and KSCERATO powering them to a 3-0 start. That proved to be the only time on the map that arT's side would chain together any round victories, however, with FaZe running rampant on the T side for the remainder of the half and taking a 9-6 lead at the break. That momentum carried into the second half as FaZe put up a stalwart defense, conceding just one additional round before closing out the map, 16-7.
