kRYSTAL joins BNE as assistant coach for Major cycle

The German, who recently transitioned into the world of coaching, looks to help the Kosovar roster earn three consecutive Major berths.

Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend has announced via Twitter that he is linking up with Bad News Eagles for the duration of the BLAST.tv Paris Major cycle as the team's assistant coach.

The German followed up by saying that he has been assisting the Kosovar-majority roster for the past three weeks, aiming to get the team in Major-contending form in time for their RMR A opening matchup versus 1win on April 6.

kRYSTAL will help BNE as an assistant coach during the Paris Major cycle

The German is mostly known for his storied, decade-long playing career, where he played for a long list of well-known organizations, including GODSENT, ALTERNATE aTTaX, and Sprout. The 29-year-old even made a hat-trick of Major appearances during his time with PENTA, notably leading his countrymen to quarter-final appearances at DreamHack Winter 2014 and ESL One Katowice 2015.

kRYSTAL's only experience in the coaching department comes from his two-month stint with Niels Christian "NaToSaphiX" Sillassen's undefined roster, whom he joined as the head coach back in February after hanging up the mouse and transitioning to a behind-the-team role in December. The European ensemble struggled to get much going with the German's input, however, a 9-16th place run through CCT South Europe Series 3 being the sole highlight.

kRYSTAL is Bad News Eagles' second addition to their coaching staff since the new year. The Dionis "sinnopsyy" Budeci-led lineup previously added Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg to their ranks as the team's skipper back in January, with the Swede saying to HLTV at the time that he "[believes] in what they are doing," and that "there’s massive potential for improvement."

Bad News Eagles will look to qualify for their third consecutive Major once play begins at the BLAST.tv Paris Major RMR on April 6. The Kosovar troupe previously made it to the IEM Rio and PGL Antwerp Majors, doing so without organizational backing to become the first team to do so since dAT at ESL One Cologne 2014.

Bad News Eagles will have the following roster for the BLAST.tv Paris Major cycle:

Kosovo Genc "gxx-" Kolgeci
Kosovo Flatron "juanflatroo" Halimi
Switzerland Rigon "rigoN" Gashi
Kosovo Sener "SENER1" Mahmuti
Kosovo Dionis "sinnopsyy" Budeci

Sweden Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg (coach)
Canada Kieran "KayJay" Playfair (assistant coach)
Germany Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend (assistant coach)

You really never watched CS it seems. In terms of fraging abilities Krystal was as bad as a level 5 faceit player. But his IQ and gamesense was probably better than anyone in the game which helped him stay relevant on top tier for so long. So he will help the team in tactics, same as Hunden did with Heroic and now with Astralis

They want to get the sticker bag without having the hassle of a predatory org. James Banks said they received a few offers for the team but they decided to stay orgless.

the offers were bad in their view. Some of them wanted their sticker money to sign them. Nobody would agree to that.

BNE are the sort of team I want in CS. Player-owned, underdogs and representatives of a underrepresented (and super-passionate) region. Furthermore, the support staff of the org are a super nice bunch with James Banks (GM), Devilwalk (C) and now Krystal. Wish them GL and hope they do well enough to become something like OG was for DOTA in CS.

after some research can confirm Monte/EF seems to be player-owned as far as I can tell (EF seems to have a main investor besides the player but still applies). So yeah good find and thank you for sharing!

i agree , but they need to step up , they are the definition of a one trick pony , with only being good in majors if they can translate that to other events , then it would be very good

So you think it is the same when a kid try cheats home with friends or even on mm and when a player who plays for an org, get salary for it, and cheat on a competiton. Yes, you are right. These are the same.

Small side note: I'm fairly sure he also coached BIG Academy, potentially for a longer time and with a higher impact than what he did for undefined. So I wouldn't say he's unproven in a coaching role.
