paiN through to BLAST Showdown Americas final over Liquid
The Brazilians are one win away from a spot in the $450,000 BLAST Premier Spring Final in the United States.
paiN earned an upset victory over Liquid in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown Americas semi-finals after defeating the Americans in a three-map affair, eking out a hard-fought win on Nuke (16-14), conceding a hotly-contested loss on Anubis (14-16) to have their five-map winning streak broken before wrapping up the series following a scrappy display of Counter-Strike on Mirage (16-12).
The result is the Brazilians' second victory over Nick "nitr0" Cannella and company over the past fortnight, with Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato's troops previously eliminating their counterparts from ESL Pro League Season 17 after a 2-0 win in the first round of playoffs.
The win for the Brazilians also marks the third upset of the BLAST Premier Spring Americas Showdown thus far, with EG Black taking down FURIA (2-1) and Imperial moving past Complexity (2-1) to send all three of the highest-rated teams packing from the online qualifier.

Liquid will be particularly disappointed in their loss to the Brazilians, notably sporting a lopsided 11-2 advantage on Nuke, but ending up squandering that one-sided lead and conceding defeat after a full-length 30-round affair to give paiN a leg-up in the series, one which the Brazilians fully capitalized on to dash Liquid's hopes of playing in their nation's capital.

paiN now move forward to the grand final of the online competition and will face off against the winner of the series between Imperial and EG Black on Sunday at 21:30 , with there being the potential to have no North American teams left standing — and thus be unable to qualify for the BLAST Spring Final in the US capital — should the Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo-led roster prevail.
The tournament's eventual victor will earn the Americas' sole berth to the $450,000 BLAST Premier Spring Final, due to be held in Washington, D.C., United States, on June 7-11.
